What I know about him from reading the Swedish pokerforum (pokerforum.nu):

1) He's described as a really nice guy, he seems really trustworthy. He is a very competent poker player but seems to have serious gambling problems(which is why he is scamming people)

2) His father is said to have paid ~33k$(200 000 SEK) to cover his son's debts.

3)From reading the Swedish pokerforum.nu we can confirm that he has scammed at least 8 different swedish poker players on separate and unrelated occasions for a sum of at least ~9,6k $(74000 SEK). Some loans/scams were as high as ~3,3k $(25000 SEK) and some low as 150$. This is excluding his debt to Bryan.

These are the cases I read about so far on the Swedish forum but I am sure that there are guys out there who got scammed. One guy said he reported him to the police but I'm not 100% confident that he really did this.

Also, my first instinct was to bash OP(which I did) but this is obviously a good scammer because this seems to have happened soo many times before and if you see a guy playing at the highest stakes several times you kinda assume he's good for a lot of money, that's why most people didn't hesitate lending him money.

SEK = Swedish Krona = the Swedish currency.

Man I can't believe this story. Really feel for you and hope you get some money back. Reading this has made me realise that I am too quick to lend out money (even to good friends I've known for a while). I hope some other people can learn from this as well so that they wont make the same mistakes.

If he's already had cases brought against him in the past, might that make legal action easier since it shows a pattern?

Well I cant help but think most of your debt is your own fault being a complete pushover/too nice etc. Have you considered hiring a debt collecter( who wont be afraid to get violent) for a % of the total owed as your obviously too nice (scared) to sort out this **** yourself. This Robert looks to have gotten off too lightly now and in the past so to be confronted with the kind of man who collects debts would be good for him I think, in the long term.

Also please explain why when you made a slight profit in the casino or whatever you paid him back what he lent you that night. I mean wtf dude.

Maybe even contact the others that Robert owes and hire a debt collecter to help you all out.

Wow. About all I can say.

All I know is if I tried logging into my Stars account and had password changed thru email when he's playing on my laptop night(s) before, that bitch is under water in 5 seconds and drowning.

I almost respect you for supposedly having that much restraint, or for being that ignorant, cause I know his ass would be grass 10 times over reading that.

A friend met him in stockholm and gave him my msn(without knowing he was the well known scammer robert at first, he told me a week later) and i lended robert $700 total for playing mtts, its not that big a deal but i obv dont like being scammed.

anyway I made some tries to get my money back and he wanted to send it on different euro sites, but said that the p2p-transfer function was down whilst he kept asking for more money on stars/ftp but i said no and finally blocked him and told him to go **** himself.

its sick how many people he achived to scam but hes a good talker and when he starts to beg for money the only choices u have is to lend him or block him. I cant even imagine how hard it must be to say no and leave it there irl.

Offer him a free paid vacation to Turkey.
On his way to the plane place one pound of weed in his bag.
At the last minute tell him you have an emergency and cant board but will be there tomorrow.

Bryan,

I don't know you or the entire situation despite reading your long conversation, but here is my take on the situation. First, you gave some guy you were "friends" with money, and he agreed to pay you back, but through a terrible series of events he has been unable. The fact that you are even THINKING about telling PS that you don't know that he did this for sure is just... there are no words. If he contacts you again, tell him you do not want to discuss anything further and that you want your money back. Right now he has 22k and a seat to the EPT, you have a super long forum entry on 2+2. And while that is cool, you have been the fool for too long. Call the police get a lawyer in international law, call PS and make damn sure he cannot play in that EPT event. He should be in jail he is a cheap con... or an expensive con in your case. How hard did you work to make the money? How much would the money help you and your girl? You want to roll over and die, that is your choice, it does not have to be. I will tell you this, though, should you decide to accept this situation you are GIVING him the money and the FREEDOM to do this. I would bombard his dad with this and the court systems and police station with this information. I would not accept anything less than the following: YOU get his EPT (that would be awesome btw) or You get your money back plus the 9% average ROI and he gets a criminal record for threatening you or he serves some time for what he does and when he gets out he owes you money for the rest of his life, and I would report him to every single poker site with a group of players and make sure he is never allowed to play again on any of them. That is all. Make him pay for what he has done. Put him in a bad spot and don't worry about this moron threatening you, he lied about money which means he is lying about him hell's angel connections. Take it for what its worth. I think the time for compromise is over and now its time for your payment.

Hey Prim,

I rarely if ever, post in these type of threads, but I'm simply in shock (at least for now, but I must admit I was chuckling throughout that long 1st post). However reality set in about 5 minutes (later) after completion of reading this thread and my heart really goes out to you.

I used to play a couple of levels below you in HU SnG's and watched you a few times to know not to tangle with you HU - which is why you might recognize my name but have never played me. You seem like a superb guy (and by my accounts in your early 20's). The reason I responded in this thread is to possibly give you some focus from here on (from a guy who is almost double your age). While we do crazy and very risky things in our 20's, it is best done so at that age, so we can gain experience from it and learn to avoid them for the future.

I would like to point out your superb self control and demeanor thruought this ordeal and how you didn't resort to any possible life changing events (such as stabbing Robert, even though the forum consensus dictates that, as the correct form of action in this situation). You should know that your type of self control will translate to huge profits over the course of your life (especially in poker, where bad runs DO OCCUR), as you are amongst the most unlikely to tilt off your funds when the going gets bad.

I'm certain you will recover from this rather sooner than later and be weary/more cautious in future situations. I can't forget my own 20's where I would lend/borrow large amounts of money until 1 day where a fairly small debt/continuous bad check sent me into a state of absurdness (where I was so determined to get this trivial amount ($3k) back I wouldn't stop at anything, just so I could -stupidly- claim to myself that no-one can screw with me). I literaly killed a person (fortunately they survived), err, his mother, not by violence but by my actions. To give you some insight, I knew this person had money as he drove a Porsche 911 turbo, most of which was derived by ill gains - which is probably why I was so infuriated. Anyways I will tell you what I had done, not to give any of you any stupid ideas but to show you how one simple devious act can easily change so many lives forever. After some back and forth minor retaliations, I decided to take it up to the next level. Knowing that his mother was grief stricken already by his mostly shady business dealings (he also just opened a night club), I decided at the prefect moment to call his mother late on a friday night (when he wouldn't be readily available to answer calls) and frantically called his mother looking for his brother since (my target) was just shot in the head by someone outside the club. Since the mother had spoken to me several times before, she had no reason to suspect me of making this up. Naturally she became distraught (as any parent would upon notification of such devastating news) and suffered some type of attack which resulted in a hospital visit. Though she was able to get confirmation within 20 minutes that her son was alive and well, the neurological/trauma damage had already been done.

Fortunately the other guy involved came to his senses and decided to end this situation peacefully without attempting even more revenge and possibly eventually escalating this to an actual murder. His cool and collected actions avoided this from haunting both of our lives, even though I came close to causing irrevocable damage.

SO, the point of the story is you DID the RIGHT THING BY JUST WALKING AWAY. I'm certain you will recover these funds and much more by being able to profit significantly in the future with your skills. It was an expensive learning lesson but think of all you were able to maintain: your freedom, your parents, your enhanced skills, your GF/(maybe wife to be some day)........ they are all worth much more than $30k.

GL, and stay out of my tables please.

Ps. You should consider sending/pitching a manuscipt to all U.S. film producers, this can easily be turned into a "catch me if you can" style movie.

List of transgressions...

1) OP transfers money to random guy he played with online and had a few MSN conversations with.

2) After "problems" paying back OP, OP transfers more money to scam artist b/c he saw him win $13k in an online tournament and he thinks he's good for it.

3) OP sends more money thru transfers b/c of promised bank wire transfers (yes thats right he gives scam artist his personal bank account info). The rationale? If I don't send more money I'll never see my money again.

4) After encountering "problems" with bank wire and moving to France OP allows his gf to loan money she can't afford to loan to scam artist so he can travel to France and pay in person.

5) OP spends his own money to travel with scam artist on wild goose chase for bank transfer. (scam artist owes OP several thousand dollars, but OP is willing to go half'sies on all travel expenses in order to get to the right bank inculding air travel, hotel, and meal expenses)

6) After more "problems" and further delays with the bank transfer. OP REPAYS scam artist money given to him to gamble with for the evening WHILE SCAM ARTIST STILL OWES OP SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS Personally the sum of all of those monies should be subtracted from the $22,500 b/c he gave you money, but you obviously didn't want it YOU GAVE IT BACK!!!

7) OP allows scam artist to use his laptop... EVEN AFTER SCAM ARTIST IS BUSTED SENDING EMAIL DISGUISED AS OP FROM HIS EMAIL ACCOUNT ENTICING OP'S FRIEND TO SEND $1K TO SCAM ARTIST!!!!

8) OP AFTER VOWING TO NEVER LET SCAM ARTIST ON HIS LAPTOP WHILE ANY OF HIS ACCOUNTS ARE LOGGED INTO, HE GOES TO SLEEP WHILE SCAM ARTIST IS LOGGED INTO OP'S LAPTOP AND SCAM ARTIST EMPTIES OUT HIS ENTIRE BR ON STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9) After learning of the scam OP refuses to call the police b/c he feels "uncomfortable" about it. He knows if he does he'll never see any of his money again.

I lost count of the mistakes after that, but all I can say is Holy Moly!!!! and Sweet Jesus!!!!

I don't intend to make fun of you OP, b/c I feel sorry for you but this is incredible. Although it doesn't seem to fit your personality the purchase of a $500 handgun solves alot of this. Of course not loaning money to someone who hasn't paid you back here saves you oh about $22,100 of that $22,500.

In all seriousness does this Robert Clown play in the WSOP? I will seriously break his jaw if I run across him next year. OP you are too nice dude. I hope you learned a very, very valuable lesson here and that lesson is trust your gut it tells you those things for a reason.

Edit: Like a previous poster said its not even my money and I'm pissed off about this.... OP please PM me if Robert comes stateside for the WSOP or any other tournies. Hell post that in here. Man if I stayed several nights in the same hotel room with this clown he would be missing body parts. Add a pair of handcuffs to my original claim. A $500 handgun and a pair of handcuffs solves most of this. QFT. Please consider getting "hired" help to track this piece of ***** down.

This.
Don't know if Im more pissed about Brian's depth of stupidness or by this conartists shanigans. Latter prob. a guy from wealthy family who has lived and learned from youth that he can do what he want without any actual consequences to him. No superproconartist would trust stupidity and mild temperness of the victim so much that would hang with him all over Europe just making up more lies and playin together n ****. He's just opportunist who knocks on doors and when answered, really tries to make "best" of it. And ofcourse total gambling addict from what I read of his hobbies and playing endevours.

Not to just put more pain to OP situtation, have to say people around me who love me and trust me, would like me better if I would turn heroine addict or pornstar than getting f*cked in a*s like this by some swedish "bättre folke" deuchebag. If I would talk love of my life to lend money(impossible if she knows that he owes me some already and has't paid) to a*sface like the con here and would't get paid, she would prob leave me in the endgame if all the idiot mistakes I've made would come to light. And not for losing money(im not a rich man) or not even falling out of love with me, but losing trust and respect for me. What kinda life she could picture us having together when her man is so gullible. Will he give our child to stranger in mall when stranger promises to take sweet little girl to Amusement Park for hole day, for only 9,99euros.

Couple of more things. This has to be some trolling but still there's some sincerety coming trough in OP's story so could be true also.
First, you can lend people money, even not so good friend(then not much) but you never loan anybody more b4 the 1st loan is paid back. Everybody knows this. Where was OP when this was declared universal truth in beginning of all time.

Second, when you caught someone lying you can figure he's lying pretty much about anything. It's habbit. You don't have to keep your word to lyers. If he is in depth to you like 10k and puts some thousands in your hand, how in earth you will not take back what you can and try to squeese rest of him anyway you can. Anyway. In scandinavia no one is going to jail for fu*king some up physically. Don't you know that. Especially if it's the 1st time of preing prosecuted. Here in Scandinavia it's society's "fault" n ****. They try to heal everybody rather than punish or give justice to victims. Hell, until last years in Finland most rapist had good chance getting only probation because courts don't find rape as violence here. It's like unwanted taking a car for a ride. That's why the islamist refugees consider places like Helsinki all you can eat buffet(girs and especially western girls are worth nothing so it's same as stepping on fly and without punishments whippee!) and girls being raped all the time in parks and ****. But thats a another story. To point. If u **** this guy up, do it in Sweden and not in US where you are made some max penalty example case because some election is coming or something.

Now Im just rambling on prob. trolling topic but if there are more people as gullible as OP, we shouldt worry about the overpopulation of the world very long anymore. And this also proves the point that you don't have to be very smart to be good poker player. Sorry for this comments but dude, you got f*cked in ahole like 50 times in a row. Everytime he just promised that he would just touch your buttcheecks with it and you rolled over easily and got f*ckec once more. How is this possible? How can you take care of your close ones or your life if you will set you self to get f*cked like this. If your gf is still with you, she have to have known about your tendencies b4 and is not suprised actually and really loves you beside you being a moron. If your idiotism gets your gf out of her university that should be a sign to your gf that is saying she should't get f*cked by your weakness of character ever again or then she's the fool letting it happen. The con is immoral deuchebag, but OP is to blame for his misery because if he did't brought this on himself, who did?!

You guys don't understand how scammers work. At a certain point you know damn well it's going wrong, but you still hold on to the idea he will eventually pay you back. And what do you do? Make him feel as comfortable as possible, don't get him mad and hope to see your money. You swallow your pride and all you think about is: "how can i get this guy to pay me back". And that's why you give him back these small amounts and hope he will somehow flip a switch in his head and do the same thing back. Not because you're a ****** who feels comfortable everything is still fine.

STFU. First off, your whole post is riddled with grammatical errors and misspelled words. Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Second, good and honest people are sometimes susceptible to instances of gullibility despite being highly intelligent. There's no need to cast a blanket judgment on someone because of something like this.

Third, don't do that. Just don't.

That being said, I don't know how you didn't smack the living **** out of this guy while you were there. Stop it with the 'he was a good talker, he gave me hints that he would pay'.
