Also, i know your probably in a state of shock still at this point, but don't be too worried. You've learned a hugely important life lesson for a relatively cheap price (I know it doesn't seem like it now, but it's better losing 30k than 500k when you're a rich baller). And as long as you still have 4k, I'm 100% sure you'll be back to where you were within 6 months. In the grand scheme of things, it's only a minor setback.

at least more people will learn to be cynical of people they meet where one has something to gain. until you establish the relationship completely outside of poker, which takes time, clear rules need to be establised about trades, loans, or stakes

You have a lot of options, I think legal options are kinda better, you may get his family to settle because it doesn't look like they have reason not to pay you. A legal document declaring you will sue unless xxx happens (I am not sure how it is called in the USA) is very strong.

Also, don't forget that you will sue him for hacking your account, and not only not repaying, this is electronic theft and in most countries it is jail time. Just do it. If not for yourself for the next person this guy will steal from. The feeling of relief you will get when you win the case is worth a lot of $$ and you will have self confidence as opposed to a feeling of regret for your whole life.

Also, I agree that there would be violence in that hotel room. It seems you have a problem about having conflicts with people. All of your lending stories begins you by saying "no way I can do this" and in the end you lend him. This is mostly not something you can fix yourself, but it is pretty easy to fix by psychological therapy in about 10 sessions (if you realize you have this problem). Just see one, and be done with your guilt/your problem within 3 months. This is extremely +ev.

He still talks to me on MSN and still says he will pay me back, etc., etc., a recent convo went something like this:

me: "do you have any real plan to pay me back or any time frame?"

then I posted this story, so yea, I keep in touch to badger about my money, but his 'friends' from the story will be posting this in the swedish forums tomorrow I think so I dunno how much he'll talk to me after that.



also NOOOOOOOOOO I didnt vouch for his EPT seat, I told stars a TON of times that he had stolen the money and he didn't deserve it, and so they said they were going to void his seat, and then I also PMd scotty about getting me the seat-only part of the package to replace the 5k that wasn't recovered by stars if his package was being voided... I got put off until 3 days before the event, when they said they had a meeting, decided to unreg Robert through stars registration (cause he was being banned for life and they dont support his actions) and register him through a 3rd party, and no seat for me . But no, I would never have vouched for that unless he had repayed me $22,500.

My expactations were about 0% until recently, so now they are at light mediocrely hopeful, I don't know ANYTHING about international law but hopefully I will be talking with a lawyer soon about how strong my evidence of records / witnesses / verbal contracts of a loan that can be confirmed by others would hold in an international court of law, so meh... we'll see.

sigh... im not even big and im much bigger than him, I wanted to more than ANYTHING in the world, but I thought I would have no legal recourses so I thought if I punched him my chances of getting $$$ went to 0... and GOD I love money (or hate it ... if you read the story )

TBH like now that I look at it... it blows, alot, but if it had been 6 months later it would have been INFINITELY worse. I've been playing poker a long time, but just recently alot of things 'clicked' with me, so I really had only had 2 big months before this happened (August +12.3k, Sept. +17.4k), and luckily for me I had a ton of REALLY nice people offer to help me out, so I got a loan and have been grinding and playing suprisingly great, and I expect i'll be back to a 30k roll before 2009 (hopefully closer to 40), so while it is still like the worst experience ever, prolly took years off my life in worrying, wasted 3 weeks of October , the recovery part will hopefully be the easiest. Learning that people are !@)$s is probably the most annoying... like I dunno, I guess I knew it all along, and cwar re-assured me all summer to never trust poker players ;p, but im from a small-town where like the WHOLE town leaves their doors unlocked when they are gone to work and the keys in the car, even if they are at the store, or gone from the place they parked it, etc., just super trusting, so I guess my natural instinct to have good-faith in people needs to stop (and it has) especially around anything related to such large sums of money and anyone involved in gambling ;p




Also: Nemo yea my gf wants me to write a book too, but i'm just not that good of an author, I think I could work GREAT and I think the story could be made super intruiging on a 'based-on-a-true-story' kind of deal if I had an author to work with or something, but im a fish at writing .

Cwar, Sweden's part of the EU, just like Prim's current country of residency. That makes it a bit easier. It'll take some effort for sure, but given that his proof is pretty solid (hell, even PS acknowledged it), he should be able to get the money back.

And unless the idiot's keeping all his money in cash, and never deposits it at a bank, it's going to be hard to hide anything, because they'll check bank accounts and his tangible assets.

If I were Prim, nothing could stop me, no matter how much effort it takes...
