How to become a good reg? How to become a good reg?

Hello grinders and begginers!

I post this as my 2nd thread on this forum hopping that I will find the support to become a good hu sng hyper reg.
In the past I was a winning player at normal hu on 888, at low and middle stakes, but there is a very low traffic and I had to do something. So, I heard about Winamax and thought that it is the perfect place where to start learning a new format of HU sng, hyper turbo. So, I started to read something about the strategy and how to approach it. And I deposited 500 euros on Winamax hoping that I will take my 100% bonus.
So, from that point I started to play on Winamax, hu sng hyper turbo at 5Euros (120 games) and 10 Euros (next 800 games), and again 5E (maybe last 50 games) and I have close to 1000 games played in almost three weeks or so.
The problem is that I belive that I am a better player than most of my opponents and I still lose almost each session I play.
In 20 days of play, my results are like this:
6 winning days
1 breakeven
13 losing days.
ITM - 52%.

My sharkscope graph is like this (I hope that I inserted corectly):

So, my conclusion is that the variance is not the only problem I got, I belive that my game realy sucks beacuse the variance is a little way to high...

In the end of my thread, I ask you a big favour: please advice me how to improve my game: what should I study, what should I read, what to view, anything that could make me a good reg.

I want to thank you for your patience to read my whole post and also I want to thank you for any good advice.

Good luck at the money!

But you didn't ask anything? Best thing to do is to join a study group where you are all motivated. Usually this should get you to the 15s.

Also not meant to be a dig, but another thing to bear in mind is that almost no one who plays poker thinks they are a losing player (for most, even when confronted with huge evidence against).

Finally it's even possible that the games you play are not beatable. Try to compare the rake to the industry standard that is Stars. Basically for a similar format to Stars hypers, the rake % at 3.5s there should be what you look for.

In the end of my thread, I asked you to advice me how to improve my game: what should I study, what should I read, what to view, what to do to become a good reg.

I didn't say that I am a losing player, I belive that I am a decent player because on 888 I had nice winnings, but I can't consider that the variance is the only problem that I have, because the prior thing is to improve my game to become a good reg, and 2nd to win money (I belive that winning money is just the cosequence of becoming a good player).

Thank you for the advice to join a study group, I will try to make this my next step.

Winning money is a consequence of becoming a good player and good bankroll management (although you don't sound like you have this issue).

However, from what you wrote it seems that you don't understand sample sizes/variance and what it means to be a consistent winner. You can't decide after having one winning session that you are a winning player, and subsequent losing sessions still don't falter your confidence.

Actually I think for most winning players it's the latter part- their mental leak is that they are always questioning themselves and being too self critical. You would be hard pressed to find a single winning player at decent stakes who didn't think that they ran super hot at the start of their careers. This is caused by not only survivor bias but also the fact that the more you improve, the more you wonder how the hell you managed to win at all when you didn't have a clue earlier.

When I say winning player, I mean someone who has an edge at their stakes on the competition to beat rake, not someone who has net profit which slightly different things (I may have an edge at my stakes, but if all I do is play jungleman HU then I'm pretty sure I would be a losing player).

review your games.
post hands (properly).
find threads to read (a ton of info is free on the web and elsewhere).

hello alupigus888,
your problem seems to be the rake on french sites, a common issue. if my information is right and you are paying 20cent rake in a 5€ game, then you are paying almost double the rake you would be on pokerstars.eu. a player with 3% roi on pokerstars would then only have a 1% roi on winamax, which means a player with decent enough roi to only face "standard" variance of hyperturbos, which is already pretty high, would be facing much, much bigger variance due to the low roi.

on the other hand i see that blinds only increase every 3 minutes instead of two minutes like on pokerstars, that would be an argument for higher possible winrates. also high rakeback can diminish the effects of higher rake to a certain degree.
