Hi All,
I'm new to the forum so excuse the slightly novice question.

I understand push/fold is not optimal play until down to 7 or 8 bb.
Some say 10bb and others say up to 15bb you can play push/fold.
Am I correct in understanding down to 7 bb or 8bb would be best time to use it as I trust there may be +EV spots I could still be missing if I were shoving at 10bb +

Also when they refer to the correct number of bb are they referring to the player in HU who has the smallest stack (AKA effective stack I think?)
So presumably I should base my decision based on the effective stack.

For example if I had T7o OTB with only 7bb left I could shove which would be +EV play according to the charts as it suggests anything less than 9bb may be a shove. Or should I be looking at their stack if they had less bb than me and basing my decision of my cards based on their stack in position and OTB ?

I look forward to hearing from you and would be grateful if anyone has skype and still plays HU hyper sngs and wouldn't mind me connecting to ask the occasional question to improve.

As a beginner to hu hypers or spins, I'd suggest playing ~nash from around 8bb (maybe call slightly tighter than nash vs some recreationals, but pretty close). Once you're more advanced, you should cut that to 6bb or maybe even 5bb as there's a bit more ev to be gained there.

You should base your decision on the effective stack, though vs some recs also things like gameflow (could they be tilted from the last hand and willing to spitecall, are they super spewy, etc) also should be considered.

If their stack is shorter, then they're the effective stack, so I'm not sure I understand your last question here.
