Heads Up Guide 2021 Heads Up Guide 2021

02-18-2021 , 07:00 PM
Coffeeyay has authored a 35 hour Heads Up Video Guide for 2021. This video pack is targeted at players of all levels that want to improve their play in today's games and is fully suitable for both heads up sit and gos and heads up situations that come up in 3+ handed formats.

While some concepts will require repeated viewings for lower level players, many concepts are fully accessible on first watch. The Player Adjustments video alone is likely worth the price of admission for beginning players. Advanced players will find the advanced sections of Poker Theory and the detailed breakdowns in the ISR videos especially valuable.

Exciting...just curious: how much PIO/solver work is done throughout the series?

Thanks!

The pack focuses on information on how to get value from Pio (or other GTO solvers), together with more directly using GTO results (from Pio) in the pre-flop and flop sections.

Don't get me wrong, it's not because of lack of desire--analyzing pio solutions can be a lot of fun! But because of the guide format, I try to focus on the most fundamental and important aspects of becoming a strong player (and earning those fat stacks $$$). As part of this I look at the biggest pictures where GTO is but one element, or tool, in your arsenal--and as part of that "biggest picture", it didn't make much sense to spend time mucking around In Pio working out tiny details. Instead, I focused on presenting the most important results that you'll find and present you with the correct context to make the most out of any future study you do (whether it's GTO related or not).

The diamond level spins package was less constrained and so includes some content using GTO solvers and analyzing GTO solutions.

Hey, the Diamond name is just a coincidence, I didn't even think about that when naming these packs bc I wasn't involved in SL.

Adam did include a few ISR vids from the SL Diamond though, since they were rock solid concepts he had already went over and it would bolster the depth of the pack.

Can Coffeeyay post some relevant HU sharkscope graphs?

Also, without derailing the topic I look at SPIN N GOs grinding as a negative thing? Because they are not a "grind-able" game. Again, don't mean to open an off-topic debate if SPIN N GO's are beatable I just don't see it as adding anything of value (rather taking away value) no matter what the buyin is.

No offense taken at all.

I think you're looking at it incorrectly though. A great deal of the value in succeeding in Spins is being able to play well 2 handed, something like 2/3 of hands played in a spin will be HU, if you are a crappy 2 handed player you're losing HU a lot more than you should and you'll struggle mightily. So a great deal of Spins coaching involves heads up coaching (which is why the 60 hour Spins pack is 35 hours of HU focus and 25 hours of 3-handed focus).

Coffee plays Spins bc the site he is on has great traffic and he has a pretty hefty rb + leaderboard deal there that gets him upwards of 75% rb I believe all-in. He does this for a living, so he's playing the games that give him the best chance to earn a living for his wife and two kids.

He's trained some pretty heavy high stakes players over the years though. Guys like spiritedreal, currr, majcy, adamc, wubblepig, sawweee, 307th when those guys were coming up from $60s-200s and beyond in HUSNGs and it was incredibly competitive to break through those cartels. He's been very strong in the type of mathematical foundation and GTO concepts that are required to really excel at when battling tough regs to earn a spot in those groups. He's also been the primary coach in several stables over the last 6 years and worked with players of virtually every level. He has quite a long list of great players he's coached over the last decade.

I'll see if he can breakout his recent HU stats for you though if you'd prefer that, no problem, that should show you well enough that he's succeeding at the tables. You don't want sharkscope, you want EV graphs, because results can vary, especially in lower edge, faster formats. But go through the two sample videos, I'm posting more this month as well, I think you'll see that the content is of good quality.
