Did u hear the knews ? above 100$ 15% taxes. above 500$ 20% taxes, every day, no matter if u are on a downsing or not. That means that i would be -1436 from taxes this month instead of +317. So, long live the king of 7s hypers. Im gonna grind them till 99$ winnings per day and then switch to full tilt grind 99$ then switch to whatever. breaking bad.

Well considering Greece's past years in the European crisis, this really doesn't suprise. They need money and they need it asap. Still ridiculous. I guess there won't be any greek regs left in the next weeks.

does that mean i don't pay taxes for scores under 100$? that means i can play up to the 100$ buy-in and if i am up one for the day i have to quit, so that i stay tax-free? i don't get that system, aren't they minimizing their tax-income because they are only taxing fish? regs will stay at lower limits and not pay a cent imo.

also that system might cause chipdumping between regs...

i am still not convinced i understand this system. could you theoretically make 3k euros and not pay taxes? while at the same time, if you are very unlucky, could you pay taxes on a losing month?

yes i think thats correct, if you are up 99€ every day of the month you don't pay taxes, and if you are up 1k€ 20 days of the month, but dump 2k the next 10 days you will be down after taxes

actually the poker law reflects most tax laws in greece. Anybody knows if lockin profits on poker seasons works? EX. today i played half hour and i net 100$, stop. Tommorow i play 4 hours lose -40$. The day after i play 2 hours net 100$, stop. Basically i stop when im winning 100, but if i win less of 100 or losing i have to keep on grinding. Will that affect my winrate in any way ?

we have something similar for casino/sportsbetting winnings in Croatia, except the amount is much higher, but obviously pointless since you can just split bets into however small pieces you like and stay untaxed, which you can't with poker. so sad to see a government punish zero house edge games

this is by far the worst possible solution for Greek poker

Actually this legislation unremarkably coincided with the privatisation of OPAP the gambling monopoly in Greece which has good reason to f over both poker and competing bookmakers. Pretty sure this was something agreed to 'sweeten the deal' between EmmaDelta (the buyers) and the government. The government will get small incomes but more importantly this will help stop online and live poker from overtaking OPAP's services in a country where disposible income is small IMO.
