Getting check raised on a paired flop Getting check raised on a paired flop

I have always encountered this as one of the most challenging decisions in heads up play. Most of the time it's either a bluff or you could be almost drawing dead. I know it depends on the opponent, but i've seen even opponents with 0% c/r stats who couldn't fight the urge of raising you on a paired flop and double barrelling with air on the turn.

What would do you if you hold for instance a strong A or K on a 996r board and facing a raise? Simply call them and decide on the turn/river or reraise?

Doesn't a reraise seem week in this spot and gives the opportunity for strong opponents to shove?

Reads would be very helpful. You can click back quite frequently vs high c-r percentage. Against unknowns i think you are best off folding though. With AKo on 699r you can flat and give up vs further aggression because i think there is a decent chance villain might abandon his bluff and not barrel his gutshots when getting called on such a dry flop.
