I have a leak in my game where after I minimum raise I fold too much to a 3-bet all-in. This happens when the blinds are in the 7-20ish area.

I was playing a $10 heads up game at 12BB versus this Villain and he min-raised with JTs. I pushed all-in with A5o. He called. I felt like it was kind of a loose. I looked up Ax, broadway, and pocket pairs, versus JTs and it is 41.66% Which makes it about right to call with.

Unfortunately, I've been folding hands like this. I think I have this habit, because I've been playing with a lot of nits who have 3-bet ranges of something like 88+, AT+.

Anyone with some good strategy advice who can help me fix this? Part of the problem could be that I am betting too much with mediocre/crap as well.

10$ reg, turbo or hyper? Look at the aggressiveness of vilain, if the guy is quite loose from the beginning of the game then more often then not he's going to have a loose 3bet range.

The think what could be their range. I would check the EV of hands against a tight range, not 88+, AT+. That's too tight for sure. At least 22+, AT+. It's rare that I see someone calling with 22 with 16bb.

THen I would check against a looser range, then a more looser range. Then now you can MR CALL accordingly. Sometimes you'll meet AQ like super often but it could be two things. Vilains was still tight or he's loose but you only meet his premiums.

I would fold less when the stacks are short.

...

did you perhaps answered your own question?
Probably not possible if you have kind of fixed ranges vs everybody though, .

pokerstove some more hands vs different ranges, so you get a better feel for how hands do in allin situations

well, the minr/shove game is solved, so you can always turn to that, but also consider limping more vs opponents giving you trouble w/ frequent 3bet shoves.

I've made the following table for calculating BB win percent needed in order to call the all-in. The first number is the BB in effective stacks after the blinds have been posted. The number after it is the equity needed to call. If other people have the same situation as me they may stumble upon this page and use this.

Y = (X-1) /[ (X-1)+(X+3) ]
2: 16.7%
3: 25%
4: 30%
5: 33.3%
6: 35.7%
7: 37.5%
8: 38.9%
9: 40%
10: 40.9%
11: 41.7%
12: 42.3%
13: 42.9%
14: 43.3%
15: 43.8%
16: 44.1%
17: 44.4%
18: 44.7%
19: 45%
20: 45.2%

In order to simplify this I am only figuring out for 5, 10, 15 and 20 since I don't want to overdue it. I'm using the 22+, AT+ range and also looser ranges for looser players.

@yaqh: could you give a link for a page where the solution is found. I tried finding it in a google search, but had no success.
