Hi,

When all 3 players go AI preflop and let's say the equity is 40%, 30% and 30% for each player, does this mean nobody generates chipsEV? Because all of them have less than 50% equity?

If instead let's say I have 60% and the villains have 20% and 20% I'm generating chipsEV?

Usually when the 3 players go AI preflop none of them have over 50% equity that's why I ask, it seems strange to me.

Apologies for my English and regards

No, since chip EV is equity x pot size/total chips. When HU this is usually equity x 2, but when there are 3 players this is equity x 3- so you would require more than 33% equity to win in chip ev (as you would expect).

Having >33% equity in a 3 man pot guarantees positive EV, However. you can have positive EV with less than that because of the dead money in the pot. In fact, all three players can have positive EV.

Example: After pre-flop, the pot is 100. Player stacks are each 40 and player A goes all in. Players B and C call.

EV of player i = eq_i*(220) – 40.

For +EV, eq_i > 40/220= 2/11 = 18.2%.

Thus equities of 20%, 30% and 50%, for example, would work for each player.
