Do you ever do deals? Do you ever do deals?

I am curious on what some of you guys think on making deals with an opponent to end the game early. I played 2 tables against this guy earlier we prob had played like 8 games and I looked at the clock and realized I needed to leave for class. So I told the guy hey can we split on these tables I need to go for class. He then quits replying to me. (he had been very talkative during the matches). And he also starts to take the maximum amount of time. I was forced to just leave the game up which I am sure he slowly blinded me out.

However I was pretty pissed because when people are constantly getting disconnected I will make a deal with them since it is not very fun for either player to have to deal with disconnects the entire match. I am not mad anymore but want to know if I should be giving players deals or just have a SOL policy?

your opponent was very smart.

you were not so much.

1. you start games when you have to go to class

2. you tell your opponent your weakness

ofcourse he doesn't do deals. you have a problem. he doesn't have a problem. it's obviously very expensive for you that you have to leave the games, so why would he make a deal with you? it's only benefiting you if he would and you complain your opponent doesn't want to do something that is solely beneficial to you.

maybe if you offer him really good money, he might take it because he can start new games faster..

bottomline is, starting games when you have other obligations = expensive

I agree with Vroommmm. You having to go isn't your opponent's problem. I think timing down is kind of bad but if I was villain I wouldn't have chopped either.

I don't think opponents need to make deals out of some honor system or professional courtesy. You sat. Maybe the higher stakes guys would do this to not piss off someone who they want to play again or the have some type on ongoing relationship with.

I probably would respond either. Warming up my finger to hit the raise button if you sit out.

In that situation i would rather go all in every hand.

lol ok I guess I was naive for thinking people would also chop, since I do for others. Alright well lesson learned I guess.

I'd make a deal if I thought we had even skill and the blinds were super high with approx. even stacks (and I didn't feel like gambling).

Generally on disconnects I see you as wasting my time after I wait for the required amount of time, so I blind you out asap.

Exceptions to this are if I play the person all the time (and they're not a dbag), they've done it for me, or I know them IRL or online. And if I play a well known player, I'd return their money on disconnect and ask to play them again in return (i like the challenge/fun in it).

edit: In your case, if I were villain I'd say tough luck, but continue playing at normal speed. However, if I took mass money from you already, I might be nice. There are times when I leave a game early. I never expect my money back.

If you are a reg you could expect this from other regs... but not from other randoms. If you are not a reg and this happens while playing a reg... it really depends on who you are playing.. I can't throw out a statistic but I'd guess that less than 50% of regs would give you that deal if you are considered 'a random' that they will very very likely never see again --> I wouldn't give you that deal if you were someone I've never played before or weren't just crushing me on the tables etc.

Why wouldn't you just shove every hand?? At least you would have a chance.. just leaving is not wise.

sometimes when i'm running real bad vs a loose passive who never folds i say: do you want me to send you the money directly on your account?

and i made a deal with xereles once, because he had to go to some french gay party.

Yeah unless you're playing for really low stakes like under $5, I'd shove all in, and NEVER tell your opponent you're out of time unless it's a lie. I'd do the exact same thing given the situation.

I would probably help you our with 50-75% of stacks
or if the game was pretty even, with big blinds I would just recover my buy in (rake is on you)

wooohaaa highstakes tuition, why do you play $20? move up, crush highstakes, where they have manners too. i think proper br management is to play 1/20 of tuition per game = you can play the $350 at least.

you have every motive to be mad , villain had no honor.
All the guys that gree with what villain did obviously do not have sound principles and are ok with taking some guys $ not because you outskilled him but because you were a douchebag.
So he got you 20$ , but what is the price he pays in life for not having strong principles ?

Stupidity is relative, and I don't think being classy is ever stupid. You just shouldn't expect it back from others because it's a fairly rare thing.

Only time I ever make a deal is chopping with another reg first hand of the match, but only if we both respect each other as good players and we accidentally registered at the same time.

If we both have equal skill, then we both have equal chances of winning, so we can also save the time.

I'd never chop with a random - especially not if the guy absolutely wants to leave.
