yes, and he's still good at it.

Also, turns out limping buttons was right all along.

not really true considering population tendencies at that time period

Wait, I thought the talks about his 'bad' button limping at that time were just levels... was limping really bad then? It uses the postflop positional advantage to the most effect, after all, i.e., strong regs are able to play almost any hand on the button better than folding.

This is an interesting one.

In reg speeds, I bet limping was best at the time, so many guys made huge returns by just seeing tons of cheap flops, and waiting until they got a great hand and their opponent had a merely "good" hand that they couldn't get rid of. The bet sizes meant almost nothing at that point, the avg player (even solid winners) couldn't fold a good TP on a regular board 75bb deep.

In turbos, I'm not sure.

In supers/hypers, I think a lot of raising early on was best (the fold %s were high in BB and people were just getting auto torched pre by folding so much).

Those are my thoughts at least. Cog played turbos primarily back then iirc, so it's gray to me.

@chicagory
I could be mistaken but I don't think Cog played Turbo. He was playing reg speed and moved straight to hyper (superturbo at the time) when they were introduced. I could be wrong

Enjoyable thread, video was LOL A+, haven't laughed that much for ages.

Took a long break so was not aware of this thread. Cog Dis IMO is a superb HU player, trappy, likes to limp and a very adaptive style, learned so much from him. Helped me a lot with my post flop decisions gained from watching his videos.

From 2010 to late 2012 he played turbos on Stars (likely alongside reg speeds).

I'm not sure his FTP game habits around those times.
