This is an interesting one.
In reg speeds, I bet limping was best at the time, so many guys made huge returns by just seeing tons of cheap flops, and waiting until they got a great hand and their opponent had a merely "good" hand that they couldn't get rid of. The bet sizes meant almost nothing at that point, the avg player (even solid winners) couldn't fold a good TP on a regular board 75bb deep.
In turbos, I'm not sure.
In supers/hypers, I think a lot of raising early on was best (the fold %s were high in BB and people were just getting auto torched pre by folding so much).
Those are my thoughts at least. Cog played turbos primarily back then iirc, so it's gray to me.
