Hi guys,

So this is something I’m really struggling with at the moment. I’ve only ever played full ring cash before starting heads up sng’s and when I face a super aggressive opponent I’m finding that I’m just getting run over the top of.

I’m playing the regular speed $1.50’s and there’s alot of villains there that are just super aggro, can anyone give me a couple of points for playing these guys? Are we basically just shoving over the top of a raise when we have a hand that we think is ahead of this type of villains range?

I played about 22-18 at full ring cash for 130k hands so wasn’t super tight but the whole shoving pre every second hand thing kind of has me a bit thrown, at the moment it just feels like pure gambling.

Thanks

In the reg speeds it's actually relatively easy to deal with agression. You're so deep and the blinds go up so slow that you just can wait for value hands and get paid of. But here a few tips:

1. don't bluff, don't start to become over aggressive, because you get frustrated that villain checkraises all the time or 3bets your opens. Don't play to many hands oop, flat your good postflop hands 3bet your stronger hands. Play more pots in position.

2. Adjust your ranges. If villain 3bets a ton, just start calling 3bets with middling hands that play well postflop like K8+, Q9+, JT. If he always donks flops call wider, bottom pairs, overcards, gutshots, or even just A high if it's unlikely that he has hit anything. 4bet jam your good hands preflop, as you get paid of often and then you just don't have to deal with villains aggression postflop. Find where villain has leaks and use these spots to extract value.

3. Get paid off with good holdings. Don't 3bet all your strong hands postflop and just play a little bit more trappy. Agressive opponents overplay their hands and bluff multiple streets in bad spots, especially on the 1,50$ lvl, so you just call down and get paid off.

4. Get better at mid and endgame. That's where those guys make the most mistakes and where you can turn a game around completely. Look into strategy 30 BB or shorter. You see crazy guys calling your 3bet shoves with K7 or worse in those blindlevels.

That's all what I could think about at the moment, hope that helps.

^^ Thanks that's really helpful. Do you know of any threads that deal with strategy 30BB or shorter?

http://www.husng.com/content/husngco...up-poker-ebook

it's a free ebook from husng.com and it covers the most important aspects of hu poker, also some articles about endgame. Otherwise their free videos are also a good place to start if you don't want to pay money upfront.

^^ Thanks I've read that it's great. I played about a dozen games yesterday and your advice really helped actually, instead of trying to play back at these guys I just settled down and played solid poker.

I think it's been a case of moving to something new and thinking I've got to do all these fancy moves instead of just doing what made me a winner in the first place.
