King on the river saved me, but whats is the best play to play spots like this? (villain is bad regular and sometimes little bit spew). i don't think so he could have some 8,7 or 9 in his call 3bet range

BTN/SB: t1210 60.50 BBs
Hero (BB): t1790 89.50 BBs

Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BB with A K
BTN/SB raises to t60, Hero raises to t180, BTN/SB calls t120

Flop: (t360) 7 8 8 (2 players)
Hero bets t160, BTN/SB calls t160

Turn: (t680) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets t340, BTN/SB calls t340

River: (t1360) K (2 players)
Hero bets t600, BTN/SB folds

player like this don't call 98,97,87... to a 3bet + with 8 he's probably raising turn for value

I'd check that turn unless you were planning on finishing out the hand with another bet on that river even if u didn't hit the board. Was that your plan?

i bet the turn because there's not much cards on the board for his 3bet calling range. on the turn my plan was check-fold river, or bet-fold turn. when he called turn i didn't expect 8 (or 77,99,JT), so i just bet 3rd barrel for value

With your line of thinking then I can agree with how you played it. I just personally would take a different line on the turn. However, you have a read on him from your play unlike me . Good job reading him and betting the river to then.

I don't think you should call the opponent a bad reg when you bet this turn it might be the other way around. Check fold on the turn.

The turn card puts a flush draw on the board, also any J or T has a 1 card straight draw. If Villain is bad and somewhat spewy, it's very unlikely he'll fold on the turn with a J or T.

Also, I think Villain 3b calling range has alot of J, T and 9 in it. 67s, 97s type hands would fold to 3b but Hands like QJ, TJ, 9Ts, 8Ts is "higher up" enough that many villains will be reluctant to fold vs 3b. If this is true, this board is not a good one to barrel on.

In Villain' shoes, I would slowplay any 8x precisely because alot of aggro reg will fire flop and turn with AQ, KQ, AK.. just like you did. So we get 1 more bet from those hands, and we can still get it in easily vs QQ+ anyway given the low stack/pot ratio.

Just my 2c.

I'm pretty amazed u think an 8879 board doesn't hit a regs flat 3b range

this reminds me of the saying "he was such a fish, he never folded, not even once"
