Potentially QJ/Q9/JsXs/QsXs/9sXs as well. And aside from that his hands that haven't improved may now be more inclined to make a move since we shouldn't have a bunch of Qx in our range and 8x/Tx is tricky to play vs a raise on this card in a limped pot without an aggro dynamic and we do have a bunch of draws in our range that he can fold
All that said, limped pot, 7s I think its a pretty clear barrel for value as you're going to get called by so many worse hands and bluffed so infrequently
Is A8 not a little too strong and playable to be jamming over a limp at this depth? Vs some opponents I'm sure its optimal, but vs a weaker fishier opponent who will be pretty fit or fold I can't imagine its better than 3xing and seeing a flop.
I think Yay has a point, but imo stacks are a bit deep to shove over a limp. Would definitely shove over a min raise though.
I'm not sure if the 20 chips you pick up for each fold is worth it every time you are called, as a lot of aces that beat you will call. I am probably assuming villain limps to trap a lot, which may or may not be accurate at these stakes (I think it may though)
If villain limps 100% only calls with hands that have you dominated and TT+:
According to Equilab, TT+, A9+ is 8.3% of hands. This means you will be called ~1 in every 12 hands. You have 27% equity vs this range.
So 92% of the time you get folds and pick up 20 chips, 8% of the time you get called and are a dog. You end up with 460 * 0.27 = 124 chips on average, which means you lose
460 - 124 = 336 chips.
So (0.92 * 20) + (0.08 * -336) = -8.5 chips on average.
This is the first time I've tried to work something like this out by hand, so someone correct me if it's wrong. I realise I've taken some liberties with villains limping and calling ranges and that different ranges will results in different results. If villain limps a lower percentage of hands and still calls with the range above I think a shove will become profitable fairly quickly.
So long story short, I prefer raising and playing post flop. Especially if you think you have an edge, which is likely at 7's.
