No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t10.00/t20.00 Blinds - 2 players -

BTN/SB: t1480.00 74 BBs
Hero (BB): t1520.00 76 BBs

Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BB with 8 7
BTN/SB raises to t50, Hero calls t30

Flop: (t100) 5 8 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t50.00, Hero raises to t140, BTN/SB calls t90

Turn: (t380) J (2 players)
Hero bets t220.00, BTN/SB calls t220

River: (t820) 4 (2 players)
Hero bets t220.00, BTN/SB raises to t1070, Hero folds

Villain is a decent player and i quess is capable of floating overcards here, so J could be in his range for sure, but is he shiping river with Jx?

I was c/r for value because we had agresive game here and he is floating here with a lot worse i believe. I have to bet turn for value again. And i bet small on the river to get some value but i believe i have to fold to his ship?

Would not checkraise, too thin imo. What kind of range are you valuebetting against on the river? Stove something and see if you get over 50% equity. Doubt you do.

The small bet can induce a shove a lot.
Having said that, its still really hard to make that call on the paper.

Good fold.

EDIT: yeah, I don't like that c/r either

Surely no matter how aggro, 87 is not good enough to check/raise get 70 bigs in on the flop though right?! When your oop I just don't think it's a good idea to be c/r a lot as "thin" value playing this deep as he's going to adjust and float a lot, reraise a lot and then your just stuck in the guessing game.

Especially with your hand on that board if he calls, loads of turn cards are going to be bad for your hand. But if you check/call that board against a good aggro reg, he'll recognise you're going to have a lot of Ax Kx, some 5x combos, some 2x combos, some 8x combos, lower pp and possibly try to barrel you off. Which you can check/call turn as well and re-evaluate river.

Also don't bet 220 on the river unless he's seen you do it with monsters too. Just looks like such a blocker bet that if it was a different board texture and he could have worse hands some how you're getting bluffed off. But given how the board runs out I don't see him having worse ever. Probably a lot of backdoor spades. Even Jx he's going to stick it in your eye when your line is so strange. Your set repping on the flop basically and you've just made such an absurdly small bet on the river when your probably going to look for max value on the river with a set.

but why you are c/f this river? This looks way too weak to me.
