4 Man HUSNGs > 2 Man? 4 Man HUSNGs > 2 Man?

(Wasn't sure if I should post this in Beginner's or here).

Before doing the math I thought this:

So the 4 mans give you double the prize money for the same entry, but this is offset by the times you would have gotten paid winning the first match but get nothing cuz you lose the second. Making the 2 mans slightly more +EV IMO is the fact that they are probably fishier than the 4 mans.

Math says:

(Assuming I win 6 out of every 10 heads up matches I play).

Let X = first place prize in a 2 man HUSNG.

10 2 mans = 6X

10 4 mans = 6 "First Match" wins.
You then win 60% of those deciding 6 matches which gives you:

3.6 4 MAN wins = 3.6 * 2(X) = 7.2 X

Now 7.2 is obviously better than 6, our result from the 2 mans, but is someone who wins 6/10 matches able to maintain that in the 4 mans where I reckon the compition is stiffer?

I used to play 4mans but I moved into 2mans and I find them less tilty because you don't have to wait for the next match to start, plus I think that there are more random players in the two man than in 4man, not sure though. But I think the hourly is better in 2man than in 4man at least. But anyway, read that.

Thanks for the link. His math certainly puts mine to shame!

@ OP

competition is prob fishier in 4mans unless you can game select ridic hard in 2mans. the real problem is increased variance and the fact that you have to keep more buyins in your bankroll to be able to withstand the swings. w a 57.5% winrate, losing 10-15 4mans in a row is roughly as probable as losing 5-7 2mans in a row
