Ok, villain is big losing player, have not seen him check raise this big before

reads : likes to check-call with inside straight draws and any piece of the board,
does not give me alot of credit since i have been stabbing to him all pots (im not sure he even thinks about this though)

No-Limit Hold'em Tournament, 50/100 Blinds (2 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

BB (t1490)
Hero (SB) (t1510)

Hero's M: 10.07

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6, J
Hero bets t150, BB calls t100

Flop: (t400) 4, 8, 6 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets t200, BB raises t1290 (All-In)

Total pot: t800

this spot i dont really know what to do easy fold?
is calling here terrible?

you know he likes to c/c and is generally passive, what makes you think this guy is capable of c/shoving a4o (what he needs to be in order for your call to be good)

Those reads were probably made while shallow. I find some villains to be shoving any pair in this spot.

those reads where made at low blinds indeed.

Yeah, I meant to say that obviously. Tendencies change depending on the blindlevels.

Sounds like villain is pretty loose passive so:

a) don't raise J6o pre - raise a much tighter range pre if villain is calling a very high percentage (i assume he is)

b) definitely bet/fold that flop - if he is loose passive then raising indicates a very strong hand, and if your read is that he plays draws passively then his hand is at least 8x, if not 2pair or a straight

what is a good range to preflop raise here? i feel that i might be raising too wide vs alot of opponents

blinds are too big, you should only raise here (not shove) because villain folds too much preflop or to cbets. Against opponents who float with gutshot i limp and try to keep pots small untill we hit.

I think game flow and opponent tendencies dictate what range to limp, minraise and shove in the end game.

If they are loose passive and not 3bet shoving at all then i limp a wide range and minraise my better hands like J10, K9 etc. Against very tight passive players I will min raise a very wide range. However, only minraise a wide range in high blinds versus an opponent who will often fold pre flop (or to a cbet) - I think this might be the problem you are facing. Against more aggressive opponents it all really depends on game flow.

Not much point in raising j6 when he is likely to be calling wide and continuing on a ton of flops. vs players like this you can just raise for value and you don't need to really balance.

you guys are insane nits, no way you should fold j6o if he's not playing aggressively even if he calls 100% oop
