Hero ($1,510)

Dealt to Hero J J

raises to $60, Hero raises to $180, raises to $540, Hero calls $360

FLOP ($1,080) 6 T 4

[color=red]Hero bets $970 (AI),

Not sure if this is played correctly. Villain opens about 50+% of his btns, this is his first 4bet. Is this a preflop decision? Should I be folding? His range is smth like AJ-AK 99-AA to which im 55-45 but this isnt a 3bet pot so his range might even be tighter than that.

Sucks, but get it in. He could have AJs-AK, 77+ and spazzes since he "knows he opens wide, so he knows you might 3bet light".

Sorry you ran into a monster

So you choose to call preflop because u arent sure if his 4bet range is wide enough for a ship to be +ev, and now otf u give hem the chance to fold the hands u have beat?

Just get it in preflop and don't be result oriented, people can do this with AJs+, 77+ type of hands more often than you would think. And I agree with icoon that preflop shove is better than stop-and-go (or go-and-go, w/e) w/ this hand.

Ship JJ pre or go back to FR.

On a non-douchey note, you have no choice. Calling is super lame since 57% of the time the flop will have an overcard.

yes, if we are 3 betting here, then folding isnt much of an option

I like the three bet to see where we are in the hand but at this point I think we need to fold. if you shove he can't really call you with worse and it just seems like hes not bluffing enough here to make it a +ev shove

shove pre because you dont want villian to wiff flop and fold, or hit flop and call, we would rather get it in where we are 55% to win,( vs overs), and we want to get it in with 18.5% equity and see all 5 cards ( vs over pair) and we dont want to the flop to scare away hands we have 78.5% equity vs ( underpairs).

Since it is his first 4b( and this is what cutcha is referring to) he is unlikely to fold, and will usually have QQ/KK/AKs here ( given sizing/reads), but as a rule, I dont fold large pocket pairs pre, especially after we 3b. So just shove and be happy.

Think of it this way; if you have TT-AA, AKo/AKs, and you got it AIPF, then you played the hand correctly.
