Hi,

I know this is not a standard play. Villain is tight and not necesarilly solid (as he doesn't vary his tight range).

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, 21 Tournament, 15/30 Blinds (2 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Hero (BB) (t925)
Tight villain (SB) (t2075)

Hero's M: 20.56

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, 9
Tight villain bets t75, Hero calls t45

Flop: (t150) 4, K, 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, Tight villain bets t80, Hero calls t80

At this moment I was 90% sure he missed the flop.

Turn: (t310) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, Tight villain checks

I regret not betting here for 200.

River: (t310) A (2 players)
Hero bets t210, Tight villain calls t210

I think that I should have c/c here against this tight villain.

Total pot: t730

Spoiler:

Tight villain had Q, A (one pair, Aces).
Hero had A, 9 (one pair, Aces).
Outcome: Tight villain won t730

Any thoughts? Advices?

standard. c/c river is going to be bad. Post more specific reads besides 'tight', and you'll get more accurate responses.

As said villain was very tight but not solid. I meant that he played good but his "perfectly straightforward" poker made him easy to read.

F.e. when he reraised - he just hit a monster. When he 2/3 - 3/4 bet flop - he hit a medium pair or better. When he ck/ck two consecutive streets - he probably had weak hand. Almost no bluffing, just playing accordingly to the strenght of his hand.

Seems to me this is the worst possible villian type to ch/c the river with. He will probably check down a lot of worse hands that he might call a bet with (Kx, underpairs, an 8) and won't bet as a bluff. Plus you can feel comfortable bet folding.

Also, OOC what made you 90% sure he missed the flop? His betsize? I mean floatings fine/standard with reads imo but I'm rarely 90% sure of anything in husngs.

Check/calling river is gonna be a waste of value vs most ppl, and esp. vs this villain

bet river small...don't think he has many worse Ax in his pre flop raising range if he's really that tight

c/c river is a horrible option if you ask me

also, there's nothing wrong with c/raising flop small

i like just c/r this flop he is pitchin his AQ and all of his air here, if hes calling he has us beat or hes drawing, but he misses this flop so often, that the only bad thing here is our eff stx, but i would fire this 8 turn, and if hes calling then, i think A is a miracle card for us, because he, wont have many Ax in his range, but if he was trapping with tp then we get paid

Yes, in this case his bet sizing + board texture.
