Villain wasn't aggressive, but not very passive either. He seemed to play pretty straightforward. Before the hand in question this hand happened:

    Poker Stars, $14.29 Buy-in (20/40 blinds) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 2 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #10994332

    SB: 1,335 (33.4 bb)
    Hero (BB): 1,665 (41.6 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J 9
SB completes, Hero raises to 120, SB calls 80

    Flop: (240) J 5 Q (2 players)
Hero bets 150, SB raises to 425, Hero folds

This is not a flop for pot control or hoping he would 'catch up'. There are so many turns which you wouldn't like. A CBet is standard here.

But our opp can easly reraise us with wide range of hands and put us in marginal situation.

Hand 1, Raising his limp is great, on flop I think I prefer a c/call, and if flop checks through betting turn, then evaluate river based on turn/river cards.

Hand 2, good except fold river. Given that he is straightfoward, when he raises turn we are never ahead, so we are calling turn raise to hit one of our million outs. When we miss its probably not a good idea to level yourself into calling another street because he is never bluffing given previous streets action.

I would bet on a flop like 3/4 - not sure if that change anything for that opponent but I dont like to raise like 50% of the pot if I consider shoving without upgrade. Call on turn - no upgrade = fold, hit river = shove. Top pair in this case could work for a maniac but probably not against thinking player. I'm pretty sure he saw this K while he was shoving, so he wasnt probably afraid of it

On this flop our opponent will c/r with KX/ANY draw (hands that don't beat us) & KJ/KQ/SET(hands that beat us). There are more hands within his range that will c/r OTF that don't beat us, compared to ones that do. I don't think you can quite call it a marginal situation if he does c/r, but this would not happen very often as a K or Q falls within our range a lot of the time and a standard TAG would generally just c/f here.

If villan is a LAG I wouldn't mind a cc OTF to allow him to bluff OTT, but in this situation against this type of player (ABC TAG) IMO it's a standard CBet.
