Do we call on the river?

Poker Stars $14.69+$0.31 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t10/t20 Blinds - 2 players

Hero (BB): t590 29.50 BBs
BTN/SB: t410 20.50 BBs

Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BB with Q K
BTN/SB raises to t60, Hero calls t40

Flop: (t120) 8 9 Q (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB checks

Turn: (t120) Q (2 players)
Hero bets t50, BTN/SB calls t50

River: (t220) T (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t300 all in

Didn't donk out the flop as he 3X preflop after being fairly passive and I really expected him to cbet.. Is my turn betsizing any good (thinking now it should have been bigger).

Spoiler:
I called and he turned over A8o. My thought was that if he really had the J, he would bet a lot smaller to get me to call instead of scaring me away by shoving 300 in a 220 pot.

bet the turn at least 80.
you dont get a lot of credit for Qx and he prob have some equity to call.

Don't take as an offense but if he bet smaller you would say "I had very good odds so I don't have to be right too often to call it". Both train of thoughts make sense but some ppl use theese sentences just to clarify a bad call.
If you have the read that your opponent fairly passive postflop than you should donk that flop. As played, your turn sizing is way too low, you could easily bet something between 80 to 100. His most likely hands are total airs or some weak SD--->Total airs will fold anyway doesn't matter your sizing but after the Q paired he'll never fold a 9x or 8x.

Flop is a donk for sure. Even though he 3x'ed after being passive, I still don't think that's a strong enough reason to check over donking.

Turn we defo want to bet bigger, most showdown value hands are folding regardless your sizing, so bet big for value... unless you make it really small and/or they're super sticky on paired boards, but this board is extremely wet so even the really weak players know they should fold vs. a lead OTT. All this is a simpler way of saying, bet bigger for value since the hands calling a 90 sizing is calling a 60 sizing also.

River as played is gross. I'm checking to evaluate... but I'm pretty much insta-folding once he jams.

Hope that helps... just side note, villain is obviously perceived to be weak so we play our hands somewhat face up, against a reg and/or with dynamics we would possibly take a different line. gl

i think the 3x pre and this board texture makes me want to donk even more

think we need a pretty strong justification to check this spot against anyone, namely russians that f-cbet 100%

So I should have donked the flop, villain folds, move on to next hand
Or villain calls and we bet the turn for value.
Thx.

I'd probably c/f river here, but just wondering, any thoughts on a small blocker bet OTR?
