Full Tilt Poker $1 + $0.10 Heads Up No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t25/t50 Blinds - 2 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter By DeucesCracked Poker Videos

Hero (BTN/SB): t2215 44.30 BBs
BB: t785 15.70 BBs

Pre Flop: (t75) Hero is BTN/SB with 4 4
Hero raises to t150, BB raises to t785 all in, Hero calls t635

I'm just starting to branch out into HU and am wondering if this is standard.

villain has already tried a few c/r bluffs which have been bad timing for him as i've had hand each time.

it looks like a steal to me hence the shove, also would this have been standard against a straghtforward/ fit/fold type?

thanks in advance

yup this is a super standard call.
not sure if 3x raise is your standard here but you wouldn't want to ever be 3x/folding. Consider minraising as your standard preflop raisesize with these effective stack sizes if you don't already do so. (50bb or less i'd be minraising as a standard.)

edit: agree on shoving pre.

this +1.

folding this is atrocious.

calling 635 more into a pot of 985 = 1.55 to 1 = 39.2% equity needed..

guy would have to 3bet shove less than 12% of hands for this call to be -ev.

its standard

also be very carefull when u reach BB t50 , u must be a little more agressive here , and not let villian bluff u out.

Since nobody mentioned about the effective stack yet - you have reached ~16BB effective stack and might as well shove 44 pre instead of 2x/calling.

Actually, yon can profitably shove pairs like 22-77 even at 15-20BB and it has two added benefits: you can a) avoid 'stop-and-go' spots where your opponent just flats pre and shoves (or pot bets, let's say) on flop, which will contain overcard(s) more often than not so that you may not want to call; b) take the chance of (semi-) bluff 3-betting away from him.

Well, the thing with low pairs like 44 is that it really isn't ahead of much (although it isn't behind of much either), for example if he is 3-bet shoving w/ Q6s, it's as a bluff in general and is crushed by most calling range, but against your hand it has a decent equity, so you might want to take this play away from him when you have low pocket pairs. On the other hand, if you SHOVE 44 at 16bb, only few players will call with Q6s, even if he's sort of aggressive. This is a fine example that displays the power of having fold equity on your side imo.
