Re: GALEN HALL 2012 SUMMER SELLING

I haven't rly read the thread, but after seeing the above quotation, anyone who bought this package is a straight up fish. The package was absurd and clearly -EV to begin with, but given the opt out clause you guys are basically just giving the money away.

Galen you really think your package is +EV even given the opt-out clause? Seriously?

Re: GALEN HALL 2012 SUMMER SELLING

@cborders the marketplace has rendered some huge scores over the last three years... So I just find it interesting some people haven't noticed and scooped some action.. And I totally agree with what you said, just because they have little to no market participation doesn't mean what they say holds less water. Agree with some of the things they (negative comments) posed about the package.

I can't speak for other investors, but I know that for me, out of the 20+ packages/pieces I have bought this WSOP, this is by FAR the highest risk... But, it is by far the most fun as well.

As far as putting a cap on it. Galen never said that he would for sure do it. So there could be a chance he didn't (15%> IMO). And if he did hit a score, it would have to fall in 100k exactly, which is pretty unlikely 5%>.

Thought this was gonna get way bigger. Only 18 regged so far, although I was lucky enough to draw the best seat in the house.

Someone have to be pretty ****ing stupid to think that I'm not gonna issue partial refunds if it ends up with like 25 runners.

Re: GALEN HALL 2012 SUMMER SELLING

FatalError's conduct in this thread and on Twitter is so much more absurd than anything found in Galen Hall's package.

Doesn't seem unethical when all the relevant facts are clearly presented. Is McDonald's unethical for selling me a cheeseburger? I know it is bad for me but if I buy it anyway isn't it on me?** I feel like it is insulting to buyers to suggest they don't have the necessary mental faculties to decide what to do with their own money. Also goes against the whole idea of this type of a Marketplace, no?

**Apologize in advance if that analogy doesn't work for people.

Re: GALEN HALL 2012 SUMMER SELLING

Well, it is good when random people let investors know of things that are happening that have a huge effect on the EV of the package. maybe FE could go about it in a better way, but the information is something investors should know.

obv galen mighta brought it up himself.

lol. ^

Galen has done absolutely nothing unethical. He put everything out in the open and let the market decide. I don't understand at all why he is being crucified. The only thing that comes to mind is jealousy.

can someone please explain why the opt out clause is such a big deal. at least a few people have mentioned it and i fail to see how it affects the EV of a package.

If the package was clearly -ev to begin with, then wouldn't opting out save the investors money? If each one of his tournaments are -ev (or at least most of them), then the more tournaments he plays, the more investors lose...

Re: GALEN HALL 2012 SUMMER SELLING

I fail to see how opting out of future tournaments makes the previously played tournaments change from +ev to -ev. He individually priced the tournaments. It's not like Jorj's 10k package where if he plays the 10k HU and then opts out on the rest, he is leaving investors with a clearly -ev shot at the 10k HU. Galen might not have priced each tournament perfectly, so some may be -ev, but assuming investors believe almost all of the tournaments are +ev on their own (it might be a stretch), then opting out only costs investors more +ev shots, rather than somehow making this package turn from +ev to -ev.

Please enlighten me if I am wrong, as I'm 100% open to the idea that I'm missing something.

A huge +1

While most of the posts ITT can be justified as educating the investors of the MP, his conduct on twitter yesterday was simply childish and far more ego driven than anything that he accuses Galen of.

I understand that he has taken it upon himself to be the white knight of the poker community but 'outing' a guy for selling in a marketplace on a public forum open for anyone to read was most certainly, to use someone else's words, *****-like.

Re: GALEN HALL 2012 SUMMER SELLING

Got third in the Venetian 10k for 51k. Lost KK < AQo allin pre for 250bbs and half the chips in play with four left.

Expected a small field, but not THAT small, will be refunding markup down to 1.1.

Cashed 4 of 13 tournaments I've played so far, although the $50k 8game win was not on the schedule (literally the only thing I've played hat wasn't on sched, didn't even know it existed until 10 minutes before it started)

Lots of skipped tournaments due to going deep and making a bunch of day 2s, I'll update the sheet shortly, let me know if you all can view it.

Are you serious? Each tournament is a separate event. Stop posting in this thread if you don't know what you are talking about.

I know exactly what I'm talking about...I could care less what Galen sells his markup at, in fact I had no clue what markup he was charging because I didn't read past the bolded...

just about everyone who buys in the MP does so with a budget...when you open threads you have a number in mind of what total you want to spend...sometimes you will exceed the budget but more often you will spend less...this means that the total amount you spend is fixed

if everyone does that then there is a fixed amount of capital available to the forum...what if you decide to spend, say, $400, and you spend $300 of it on this package, and OP decides to rebate $200...meanwhile another package that you would have invested if you had the $200 in hand binks? do you think that's good for the MP?...or better yet, what if he refunds the money and then binks on his own...would you be a satisfied customer

just think about what that means tho...since there is not an infinite amount of money available, and it is in fact fixed...that means there is a cap on the total amount that can be won...which in turn makes the ev of the package -ev, even if the markup was 0...it doesn't take an economics degree to see it

There is a huge difference between decrease in potential EV and 'way -ev'. His refunds don't magically turn his play from +ev to -ev.

Galen,
Why didn't you post your FTP results in the OP? Don't you think it's relevant that you were a lifetime loser over 500k in buyins?
