I've had a bad serious so far this year. 0-6 for about a 20k loss, including a loss in the 10k limit championship. All of these losses were on my own dime. I also backed others for a total of 22k and was returned a mere 10k. I'm not anxious to lose more of my own money, but i feel I'd be giving up a great opportunity if I didn't play the ME. I've made 2 WSOP final tables in about 32 lifetime events. I've been playing winning poker for a living since '05. I've authored 3 posts that are currently in the anthology of MTT wisdom in that forum. I rarely play online tournies anymore as I see them as a waste of time compared to playing 100-200 LHE at Bellagio or 75-150 Omaha8 online. Admittedly, I'm best at anything "limit", but I certainly started as an NL player and have even won a sunday million (actually it was the sunday 350k with a field of 2500 back when I won it). I'm charging 40% markup and selling 50% of my action so a 1% share will cost you $140. Taxes will be your concern, but be assured, I'll have my account report to the IRS where any winnings from this are distributed.
You may send to cardsharpcook (H - nurse) on FTP or chk/rzchuck (henderson) on Stars. Please post in this thread when you send. Should I win anything, I'll also need your real name and address, but if you like, you may hold onto that for now. My real name is Brendan Taylor if you care to google me or follow online. I'll also twitter at http://twitter.com/brendanjtaylor
well not many ppl who post in SSNL or uNL are -ev in the main event. doesn't mean i'd stake them though.
i mean thats fair enough and -140 is without a doubt high in this case. that doesn't mean that anyone who invests in this case is a mindless lemming, which is kinda what your post implied. $2800 doesn't have much utility to me at this point in my life, so ill pound any small edge i can find.
I'm mildly offended by this "small edge" you speak of. Still love to have a few more investors. I play at noon, anyone who posts AND sends money will be considered booked (as long as it isn't for more than 10%). Also, I don't think a 20% players share is unreasonable. I'm (hopefully) taking in $7k in stakes, putting up 3k myself, and taking 50% total. That means a 20% players share. Of course, if I had collected 10k, it'd be a 28.5% players share. Still reasonable. Of course, at the current rate of selling 27%, I'm taking an 11% players share. (of course, all this assumes I'm charging myself 1:1, not 1.4:1. If I'm charging myself 1.4:1, I'm making 4k no matter what and there is no player's share).
P.S. Those uNL folks who are playing and charging 1.2:1 are those who cannot afford to play this event themselves and NEED backing. I don't need backing. It'd just make me more comfortable. But then again, I'm not some uNL guy that's "ok" at poker. I make 6 figures per year from poker and can afford to take no backing. Would you really rather that uNL guy or someone who understands "poker" enough to be able to play ANY game profitably, but sticks to those forms of poker that make him the most money.
Thank you to those that invested. I hope to make us all money and let no one down. BTW, my father has a 5% freeroll in me for all the faith he has shown in the past - I've let him invest in past series' and made him money overall, but my appreciation for his support is... Well, it means a lot to me. Wish me luck and follow me on twitter if you like.
