I could quit my job and start buying currency then selling it back for better than i got it for. Secondly, its not £200, its £2500 per transaction using travelex. This simply means i paid for the buyback admin fee 6 times ($30 total), still saving a huge amount.
The Thompsons deal is great but as I said it is capped at £200.

Standard holiday buyback rates from UK banks are terrible. I know this well seeing as I've been having to convert dollars into sterling for years now since I realized I was losing 12-17% just taking dollars straight into my bank account.

Moneybookers takes 2.5%, paypal 3.5% (including cross border charge), FTP was around 0.5% and stars is 0%.

But ye am not a backer I'll butt out now

I think taking the split is pretty fair, down the middle 6% hit

considering what he wrote in the OP, I'm not sure I agree, but I'm willing to agree to whatever George Lind thinks is fair.

Ok spoke with George Lind and he made the point that people may not have invested if they knew there was going to be a 12% hit on the returns. Obviously i didnt expect to get screwed over on the exchange rate. When i put exchange rate costs in the OP i meant it was covering the buyback costs which enabled me to get the same exchange rate back. This results in me successfully angleshooting myself. WP me.

He also noted how my reputation is more important than the difference in the costs. Obviously this is very true. So the only option i have is to return at the initial rate. yay i get to go work all week for free now next time i see the tick box that says "i have read the terms and conditions" im gonna spite read it

Funds should be ready to go out the start of next week. I hope we everything is

Thanks man. It's a crappy situation to be in but I think you're making the right choice. I will most likely invest again next year.

Hey, just got in from work and the money is now in my bank account now so i will be getting money out in the next few hours.

Options for USA people is any other method that you would like that is possible for me to use. Moneybookers or Paypal will be easy, and one person mentioned about something call chase quickpay, ive never heard of it but will look to open an account if thats possible.

Got replies from most people how they want to be paid, once they are sorted i will chase up any remaining people.

Have sent out some funds on Pokerstars, but have reached my deposit limit for the day so will send to remaining people tomorrow. I have also just set up a paypal account, i wasnt aware you have to go through a verification process so i have to wait a couple of days for them to send the code to my bank so i can upload funds. As soon as this happens i will send the paypal payments out.

haha i like to show the full amount your % buys I just copied/pasted from my spreadsheet.

Have paid out everyone apart from those wanting Paypal, still waiting for the verification codes, guessing should be pretty soon I have sent everything they need.

Special thanks to lithium, who seems to have volunteered for resident troll in this thread. I have no idea who you are but your useless contribution is not a paid role on this occasion im afraid; I will provide a reference for anything that does come up if you need it though as i feel you gave it a good go.

Have sent out all funds on Paypal now, so with the exception of one person who wishes for me to hold onto their share until they have an account set up, and another who is happy for me to roll over their share to WSOP 2012, everyone has been paid.

Did not invest in this but am very impressed with the way you handled this unfortunate dilema. Will def. invest in you for a future package based on how you handled this.

Best of luck.

Thanks dude -- confirmed received... I got hit for about a 2% exchange conversion loss but no worries about that. The rate that paypal uses (or anything as you know travelling from the UK, anyone like hotels and casinos and such) for GBP or EURO is not the same as the true spot rate...

I'll be investing in 2012 as well most likely... thanks!
