I'm playing the 3200+300 WPT Canadian Spring Championship at Playground Poker next weekend. It has two starting days (Friday May 1 and Saturday May 2). I've played this event or the comparable Playground event 3 times, making day 2 each time but never cashing. Have had some success in their smaller events though.

Stats:

I play midstakes NL online. 1/2 to 5/10, mostly 3/6 and 2/4. Here are my stats for the last few months on the main site I play. This is about 75% 3/6 and 25% 2/4. For the last ~4 months of 2014 I was living in Florida playing live 5/10 full time, so I do have a decent amount of live experience. Admittedly my live tournament record is not the greatest, but lol sample size and all that.

I play online tournies on sundays and have done pretty well, including a $28k win in the merge major.

IMHO the best way to do it is set the buy-in exchange rate to whatever it is as close to the tourney time as possible (like 24 hours prior max), then set the payout exchange rate to whatever it is as close to to the end of the tournament as possible. This minimizes exchange fluctuation risk, as well as your responsibility on the timing of when the currency was switched. Though the window of time may be smaller, you can always just collect a little more and refund the difference if needed.

If you're going to do it this way, I'd reserve up to 5% via Stars (if available).

So this is preferred to locking in the rate before the tourney and paying out at the same rate?

I only wanted to sell 30% so Grime has 5 and Snail has 23.

I mean whatever you agree on with your investors is fine. But doing it that way puts both sides at risk of getting freerolled by currency shifts.

One thing I forgot to mention is that if I have a big score I don't think I'll be able to payout in stars. So I'd likely end up bringing the money to the US, converting at vig (if there is a less fishy way to do this, let me know), and then I can wire to you guys or send a check or w/e.

Actually, I think in the event we bink I'd be able to transfer some/all of it back on stars, but I'd have to confirm with my friend.

So I think what I'm going to do is lock in a rate the day prior to the tournament, and then lock in a rate after the tourny. If there are refunds or small payouts you guys can get sent back on stars at that rate. If I have a huge score it will likely take longer (deposit to my bank, wire to your bank) and involve some conversion fees which will slightly reduce your share.
