I was roommates with Ferg (along with 3 others) in a house for the duration of the whole WSOP. So a few things...
First of all I'm as perplexed as anyone as far as what happened to the missing money. He's been in contact with me since this all came out, but he hasn't told me anything other than what's been posted and seen in the audits. When he got to Vegas (very end of May) he didn't seem to have much available cash for WSOP buyins. He explained how he'd sold action on PTP and 2p2 but all the money he'd raised was via online transfers, and his bank wire had been stuck for an absurdly long time. I can't confirm whether this was true, but I think he told me later in the series (or shortly after) that this 25k wire got returned to his account plus another 2.5k (10% for the trouble). Me and some of the other roommates loaned him some cash so he could play the earlier events while his wire was coming in. I'd guess maybe 8-10k total between us. Anyways throughout the series before his 32k WSOP cash he was very short on actual cash, and I believe on a couple occasions didn't play live tournaments because he didn't have access to the physical cash. Keep in mind that at the time none of us had any idea he was actually getting himself in a mess (I guess it's yet to be seen when this all actually started), so I at least didn't really think twice about it.
He did all the normal stuff with us throughout the summer, played some live cash, did some degenning. From what it sounded like though, he actually made money overall in non-tournament live gambling. Also I can 100% confirm that he got bronchitis while we were there, and after coughing for a week finally went to the doctor and got prescribed medicine which basically fixed it.
After he cashed for 32k he paid us back what he had borrowed, and used that money for the rest of the live buyins on the schedule, including the 10k wsop and 5k venetian mains. I haven't added things up but his claim that he boarded his plane home mid-July with no cash on him seems believable, given what I saw.
I remember him playing quite a bit of online PLO during the summer and had some pretty swingy sessions. I even watched him play a bit because I don't play PLO and was interested. He seemed to do alright in them. I do remember seeing his account balances after his 2nd-chance and 50r second-place finishes, and thinking "how does he have so little in his accounts?" I didn't ask because it wasn't really my business and I just assumed it was in his bank now or something. So I guess the point is that although he's told me none of this started until he got home from Vegas, I wouldn't be surprised if he made accounting mistakes (either intentionally or unintentionally) and was already in the hole and paying people back. I just can't see where all the money he raised and what he cashed for online would have disappeared otherwise.
Also, during our Vegas stay he was playing hyper HU sng's and seemed to do well in them but said he didn't have the bankroll to play the higher ones. I agreed to stake him 50% so he could move up, and he played quite a few of them during and after Vegas. We never closed that arrangement and I'm currently out 2k + 1.8k profit from that. I also loaned him 2k cash at the very end of the summer to play cash at Bellagio, and ended up agreeing he could just pay back online (which I never got, although I didn't ask for it until only a couple weeks ago as I'd somewhat forgotten). Finally on Aug 2nd he asked me for swap, so I sent him 2k stars but he said his FTP transfer was glitched out and wouldn't let him send. He offer to send back on stars but I told him I didn't mind waiting a day to get it as long as it was in his account. I never got that either, so I'm out a total of ~7.8k from this.

It looks like the $7500 on Jul 05 is most likely that bootswild gave him FTP money for cash. That withdraw corresponds almost exactly with $7900 received in transfers from bootswild over the 5 hours in between. It was a direct debit so those funds should have gone to his bank account.
I believe 7 or 7.5k of this was just a straight FTP-for-stars swap, as I'd been short on stars for a while and after he won asked if I could get some. I'm fairly certain I never gave him online money for cash besides the 2k at the end of the summer.
