Let's start treating poker as a business and quit acting like the investors should be happy to get the free money because they "won" such a big score. Galen obviously has the talent but he ran his biz a bit sloppily, Crisp is a professional and expects the people he does business with to run their operation professionally as well. Crisp believes a deal is a deal. He doesn't think he needs to comb every thread of a players history to see if there is a staking disclaimer that could screw him over. He buys based on a players results and reputation. Everyone that says "it's obv 20% he should be happy to get the 120k" don't consider the thousands upon thousands that stakers lose so great players can grind through a bad run, they only see the one small stake and one huge payout and figure the staker should be so lucky to get a piece of the action.
Yes, there absolutely CAN be a scenario where the investor gets 25% of a cash and pays 20% of a loss, freerolling 5%, it occurs when the stakee mismanages his business and doesn't bother to amend his agreement through the proper channels.
Bottom line is the disclaimer was not posted for the specific tournament staked (and the cited disclaimer really only states it will be amended for two specific reasons that did not apply anyway), the investor was told it was booked at 25%, and if an appreciative stakee showed a bit more courtesy with a simple PM to his investor there would be no controversy.
My opinion, since you asked, is pay the man or at least work out a less insulting compromise.
Finally, this should have really been worked out in private rather than trying to get a pool of 99.9% players/1% stakers to rally for you. I'm suprised more of the repliers did not feel the same way.
I think based on my number of posts and reputation in this community this should settle the issue
