i really think it is nonsense to say something like "oooh cts said he does not want OP to grind, but his money back. so give him!"
the only thing cts could claim @ this very moment is his share*overall cover of debt
means if op has 6k of 12k and cts gets 2k, then cts can only get 1k!
and as op is obviously a proven online cashgame winner why wouldnt you let him grind it up for the full amount to be paid back?
this would mean
a) (half!) the money at this very moment means more than 200% of the nominal worth to you, or
b) you expect him to lose all and not pay back anything!
both dont make sense to me.
It's 100% the OP's approach to this situation and his attitude.
The money he has in his account is NOT his money. He didn't pay back his backers when he chose to not play the event they bought a piece of. Whether or not he has no money after paying the backers, or would have to borrow money to pay them or whatever is not his backers' problem, it's his own. He should've bought into the events right away to avoid this problem or he should still have the money sitting in his account.
Since he doesn't have the full amount to pay back, the RIGHT thing to do would've been to transfer 100% of the money he had to people, apologize/explain the situation, and then hope that someone still finds him trustworthy enough to stake. As it is, he's taking money which was supposed to be for one purpose, and he's using it to play something else, basically he's forced the people who bought action to be staking him - yet they're not seeing any profit. In a real cash game staking deal, the backers get 50% or whatever of the profit. Here he's using their money, which he's not supposed to be playing with anyway, to try and make up money he lost doing things he shouldn't have been doing.
The OP has handled this wrong at every turn, starting with the fact that he didn't even come out and post that he hadn't played the Main Event, he waited until one of the backers checked on it and called him out. The whole thing seems shady as hell and the OP might've had a chance to repair his rep if he came clean at the start, repaid what he had and then tried to get a stake to pay the rest.
