Why is he still marketplace approved mods?

No center crease on the fake receipt had me skeptical - as probably 90% of people instantly fold their receipt to put it into their pocket, but I was going to wait to see how it unfolded.

Bummer for all involved.

I still wonder if i'll ever be dumb enough to choose seat #10 when photoshopping a fake receipt.

Spoiler:
Hope never

Cliffs, basically. OP's reputation is ruined, buyers in MP will be ever more skeptical/paranoid in the future, and sellers will have a harder time selling.

best thing we can do is get this over with quickly and post as infrequently as possible to get this thing bumped down and not at the top of the MP for days on end for everybody new to the MP to judge us on. things like this really hurt the rep of the MP and make it difficult for the people who really mean well and are honest to achieve what they want to achieve, and the less attention we draw to this the better.

This would greatly minimize he trust factor involved in buying pieces imo. Thoughts?
receipt alone clearly isnt enough as someone could register, snap a photo, unreg and get buyin back. receipt+stack would be better, but i could still see issues with someone possibly playing one event in a series, snapping a photo of that event but not another.

tourney directors posting registered player lists is the most surefire method. it would have the downside of someone being able to create a database of every tourney every player enters and people having public records on wins/losses, but at least things like this wouldnt happen as often.

Reminded me of this scene in Catch Me If You Can:

Frank Abagnale, Jr.: [whispering to Joanna] Hey... You should fold it.
Joanna: What?
Frank Abagnale, Jr.: That note. It's a fake, right? You should fold it.
Joanna: It's... It's a note from my mom. I have a doctor's appointment.
Frank Abagnale, Jr.: Yeah, but there's no crease in the paper. When your mom hands you a note to miss school, the first thing you do is, you fold it and you put it in your pocket. I mean, if it's real, where's the crease?
[Joanna folds note to give it a crease]

actually ive talked to jamers/mark in the past and they have confirmed backing rob. that part probably wasn't a lie.

I invested in rob once before as well and he cancelled the package before it started and sent me a refund. Sucks this didn't happen again.

Probably because the confession came less than 2 hours before this post, and no one had reported it until you did?

Thanks for the post report, though - that's the way to go with any thread you see that needs mod attention, as we don't see every post or thread.

Receipt + Stack with 2+2/Twitter username written on it seems like the best idea.

I didnt think anything of this whole ordeal until this morning when I got a PM and it could have bbeen the reason. As I said this same issue happened to me last Oct. for wsopc main.
Should we look into this, or moreover, is this there anything else that needs to be said before we look into this?

This. U sit down for event 1 of a series and tweet "starting the $1k 20k ss", attach a pic of receipt with visible details along with stack and repeat for all other events of the series. I actually did this for every event this last summer for my wsop package altho nobody asked me to, to try to set a precedent but unfortunately it didnt catch on. Its not that hard to do and not too much to ask for imo. For people who buy a lot of smaller pieces its a pain in the ass going through registration lists for all horses to confirm participation, this is would be much easier.

Think we need to do something about references too. Its too easy for someone to just post some names that they had done business with in the past whether it was just a small xfer or trade. These references can be very misleading and it seems half the time people listed as references aren't even aware their name is being used. As I would assume this was the case for all of robs packages including this one. Or maybe it is our fault as investors by not contacting these references to make sure its legit.

@mcc as isuxatpokerbad wrote a few posts above apparently dip/jamers did used to back rob so in this case doesnt seem like the reference system wasnt abused.

References are there so you can contact them. If you're unsure about investing in someone you contact the references to confirm trustworthiness.

It's standard practice to give them a heads up that they are being used as a reference and make sure they're ok with being mentioned. Zima may still have been correct that the references didn't know their names were being used.

All of the people mentioned in my references I was backed by or had numerous large transfers with. But it was when online poker was around 2 years ago here.

But ya receipt and pic of stack should be ideal. Obv a small hassle for those honest people out there but it probably should be mandatory nowadays.
