Friday Night MGM Detroit $2/$5 NLHE
The table starts out full of $hitty regs and nits.
I buy in for $400
There's one other competent player at the table and it seems him and I have a silent agreement not to get into leveling wars when we play against one another.
Since my bankroll has been steadily growing, I decide to break out a little of lagginess when IP and not play so tight.
1. Qq bb, straddle pot, 4 limps, I raise $60, 1caller, cbet J high board and win. (+100)
2. 89s otb, called a raise here to play a 5 way pot and bricked flop. (-15)
3. Aqs sb, raised $40, 6 limpers, no callers (+30)
4. Q10s, raised to $25, 3 limpers, no callers (+22)
5. Ajs otb, raised, no callers, (+22)
6. A10 mp2, raised, no callers (+7)
7. Qj mp2 (-5)
8. A10s bb, 2 straddle pot, 2 limpers, raised to $40, flop came K J 9 two spades and I just didn't think my A/10 offsuit was good enough to bet OOP to the two rec player villians in the hand. I thought that board smacked their range and I gave up. (-40)
9. 68s otb, raise to $35, no callers (+22)
10. AA utg, raise $20, one caller, rec player in the sb, flop comes 66Q he leads out $70. I flat the $70 and turn brings another Q. He goes all in for $300 and I fold. (-90)
11. A10s bb, straddle pot raise to $35, one caller, I cbet dry 10 high board and win. (+45)
12. Ak sb, r $35, no callers (+22)
13. A10 mp2, r $20, 2 callers, cbet A high flop and win. (+45)
14. Q10s mp2, raise $25, called in 3 spot and have to give up bricked flop. (-25)
15. Qj hj, raise $25, called in 2 spots, donked into on bricked flop and give up. (-25)
16. Ah8h hj, r $25 2callers, flop is Kh Q 8 and I decide to give up on it when donked into again. (-25)
Question? What should I be doing with donk bets when they come at me. All of these donks were by this old Asian guy who I was told plays lock down tight. He donked at me in AA hand, plus the two hands above....
When is the time to stick up to/make a move on his donks?
The AA hand I was definitely playing for stacks if the other Q doesn't hit.
This A8s hand I almost flatted/peeled another one because that flop smacks my raising range and I have a pair/backdoor flush opportunity...but his $75 donk was just too much.
Thoughts?
17. 103s otb, r $25, 2 callers cbet 939 board. (+50)
18. Ak mp1, raise to $30, 4 callers, have to check/fold bricked flop (-30)
19. A7s co, r $25 2callers, have to chop pot (+12)
20. A9o co, r $20 1 caller, cbet dry board (+25)
21. Aj otb r $15 2callers are in the blinds. Flop comes J 4 2, and bb has $125 left, plus a weak jack and I get it all. (+125)
22. A7s mp (-5)
23. Aa bb, r $35, no callers (+22)
24. 55 mp, set mined/called a raise (-25)
25. 109s co r $25, 1 caller, cbet bricked flop. (+25)
26. 75s otb, r $25, 2callers, have to fold A K 10 flop. Donked into from other guy.
27. A3s hj, r 25, 1c, cbet and (+25)
28. A7s hj (-5)
29. A10s sb, 7 limpers, r $65 1caller, cbet Q 4 2 rainbow board (+100)
30. Q10s mp, limp in, flop open ender, check/call, hit it on turn, check it again, villain bets again because flush draw that was out there missed and i believed villain had me on flush draw. I ended up checking river and in turn might have missed $75 to $100 value. (+175)
31. Kjs co, 4 limpers, raise to $35, 1 caller, cbet K high flop and win (+55)
32. QQ + $800
This is the big one....
It's the end of the night and a drunk aggro fish spewtard sits to my direct left with a 3.5k stack.
I have watched this man open to $40 with 55, Q8s, QJo, 96s, and even 83 offsuit that he showed when everybody folded.
I also watched him play this hand.
Guy opens UTG to $40, gets called in two spots.
Flop comes J 10 4
Guy leads $100. Gets called in one spot.
Turn is a 9. Guy leads $300. Gets called again.
River is a harmless duece.
Guy leads $600. Gets called again by J/10.
So he triple barrels off $1000.00.
As the nights gone on, over the last hour he's been telling me that I better leave or he is going to take my stack.
Mentioning I haven't played much, etc, etc, etc...
I decide it is time to leave and start racking my chips. He says, "you gonna play one last hand?" I say, "sure."
The cards are dealt and as I am racking my chips I look down and see QQ.
I just know this guy is going to raise it since it's my last hand.
So, I just call.
He makes it $40 as expected.
There's two callers by the time it gets back to me and I jack it up to $200.
The guy tanks and tanks and tanks. He then decides to call.
All others fold.
I have his range weighted heavily towards A2-A9, KQ-K9, QJ-Q8, J10, and all pocket pairs 22-99...but other random trash still in it because I guarantee this guy would LOVE to bluff me off a big old pot and he's competent enough to know I am holding JJ-AA or AK/AQ.
I do not believe he has 1010-AA or AJ-Ak because he would have spazz shipped.
I am first to act post flop and have decided that I am betting $200 out into all boards that do not have a Q on it.
This essentially will commit me to the hand, no matter what he does and I am fine with that.
May be able to find a fold if board has a K and an A in it, but most likely not.
Board is A 2 4 rainbow.
I bet the $200.
He says, "That's too bad you had to get so aggressive with your last hand. Save your money man. I'm all in."
He then reached for his pile of blacks and threw them into the pot.
Just like he reached for his pile of black chips when he did the $100, $300, $600 triple barrel bluff line.
Now, in no way am I saying I for sure had a tell on this guy...but, poker is a game of incomplete information and you just have to act on the information you do have however limited it may be...
I called him.
Guy showed Q/J offsuit.
