Grabbed the bat out of the "My Name Is Mud" Primus video and am using it to beat on this table like a gong.

45k now.

Was up to 45k...35k now. Level 9

My QQ got busted up by a fish calling with A2 off and flopping a 345 straight.

Damn. Stalled out in this one.

Got absolutely nothing going after my QQ got busted up.

Got to level 12, blinds 600/1200.

Stack was at 25k and I was sb in a 5 way limped pot.

Flop was 7 5 3 and it checked to late position guy who took a 4k stab. I shipped because this flop smashes my sb limp range. Tight dude who checked from ep..tanks..then calls with A7 clubs.

All others fold.

Didn't think anyone had the 7.

Feel miserable atm..honestly felt I could be chip leader by nights end.

Also..just for record...table had turned over and I no longer had a careless/bluffy image when I pulled this move...my image was tight cuz I went card dead for 5 levels.

Blinds 75/150....

We are sb and its folded around to old man otb who limps..I limp with JJ because guy in bb has been most aggressive at table and I feel he will take a stab at the pot.

He bets 600 as expected...otb calls. I call.

Flop is 9d 2c 3c and he checks..otb bets 800. I flat. BB flats.

Turn is 10d

I check, bb checks..otb bets 1200 and I flat to keep getting value from otbs 9x and also give bb chance to spazz out. Bb bets 4500. Otb folds. I snap call.

River is a Jd giving us a set. I check cuz if I go all in I fold out his air range.

He ships. We call.

He has Ad6d.

Out.

This aggro was often 4-5xing pre with his meh range..2.5x to 3x with his premium range.

Him and I were each down to 4k left after turn betting so I knew he was jamming all made and bricked rivers.

Had him drawing like 20%.

Tomorrow we fire our last bullet, the $580 at noon.

Am I the only one that dislikes all streets in the JJ hand? Especially the turn. Seems like if you're committing on any river then getting it in is best since he always has some equity on the turn and will check back river a non-zero % of the time.

Good luck tomorrow big shooter!

I agree. I personally would have check raised pre since we'd be playing out of position the entire hand. I definitely would have led half on the flop due to the club draw and shipped the turn. JJ is a hand I play very carefully because it can be outdrawn quickly. I'm looking to make mediocre holdings pay for trying to win.

I take non standard lines sometimes to induce competent/tourney aggros to spew.

All I look like is a long haired degen scrub so they aren't expecting much from me.

If an A K or Q comes out I can give up on the hand.

Also..ftr..won't argue that under any normal table conditions the way I played the hand was meh...

You'd have had to been at the table to see this backpacker I was up against.

No problem with taking non standard lines depending on table type. However, once the flush/straight draws developed on the turn a check/call line here allows for too many cheap rivers for hands to get there.

From what I gathered of your explanation you had about 10k to start the hand. After flop betting there's now 4200 in the pot. Check shoving here would probably have been best as the Button put in 1200 making the total pot 5400 and taking it down would have taken you up to 14k. If someone calls on a draw they're getting seriously priced out. If they fold you've just gained about 27BB which at any level is a good amount to continue playing.

I felted in level 7...

In level 6 (blinds 150/300) I lost half my stack defending the BB against the best player at my tables 700 open with Q9 offsuit.

I had Js10s.

Flop was Jd 10d 4.

I checked, he bet 800, I raised to 1800....he called and Ac on the turn.

I lead out 3000..

He calls

River was a 8c.

I check, he bet 3k, I called.

He showed a straight.

Meh.

Then the next level he raises three weak passives limps to 1200, I have around 7k chips left and ship with AQ because my AQ crushes his range. (This guy had his stack up to 45k/was on fire.)

Anyway, we run into top of his range and he has JJ and we can't win coin flip.

A pissed off 12 hour drive ensues and I'm about to go to sleep in some ****ty Super 8 hotel.

I think playing tournaments is a consistent life of misery until you hit your first big score and then it's somehow almost all worth it....

It would be like fukking ninety nine fat gremlin looking pig chicks in a row until you finally get to bang a super model in the end I guess.

When you are taking this line of limping JJ in the SB because you know BB to be aggro , then you should be 3 betting pre. Once he makes it 600 and a call , im def. 3 betting that to about 2100. Hate to play JJ OOP 3 way .

Tournaments: $2040 to start.

Fired 3 $365 bullets and 1 $580 bullet, won $765 total for all the tournaments played.

Total: $1,130.00

Grant Total: $4,069.00

Currently looking at Palm Beach Kennel Club Wsop Circuit Event for my next package.

There's going to be a $580 buy in million dollar guarantee with 5 first day flights.

Was thinking about reserving 2-3 bullets for that, 2-3 bullets for $365 events, plus including at least 24 hours of cash game action.

I'll have my next package up by this weekend.

(It's going to be a 1.1 mark up since traveling expenses are going to be a kick in the balls, but I think the cash game action I provide in addition to the shot taking in tournaments is a sufficient safety net that makes the 1.1 mark up fair.)

Let me know if you want your funds shipped back to you ASAP or if you'd like me to hold onto them.

I can start sending funds out tonight if you need them.

Thanks for investing.

Just roll mine over, and I may buy more once you get the final numbers down for the next package.

You're on the verge of binking one of these!

I feel the same way.

I just need to learn how to run good on Day 2 or learn how to suck out in bad spots.

Either way I win.. I won't complain or apologize.

I been thinking about the hand more and more.

A few months ago I'd have made the standard play, scooped the pot, and went on with the tournament.

Now, as my confidence is growing, I'm looking for spots to stack competent tourney aggros and double early more and more. (I think most of them really suck post flop and that's probably why they can't beat cash games.)

In this instance..

If I take your line, I go on in the tournament and have a table full of weak passive fish to feast on with a competent/annoying aggro on my left the entire time that I'm eventually going to have to deal with.

If I take my line and my 80% edge holds, I have a 25k-30k stack, a table full of weak passive fish to feast on, and no competent aggro to my left because I just felted him by taking a non standard line and confusing him/outplaying him.

Although my line has much more risk, it has much more reward because I am looking to try to amass a stack where I can apply as much pressure as I can to my table and not live in fear of an "all in" suck out felting me.

I want to take a large stack into Day 2 as much as possible because min cashing in these tournaments just isn't worth it.

I'm out to try to win myself life changing money...(Yes even 10k is life changing money to me because it means I can move to $2/$5 full time and double my hourly win rate to $40 either continuing to learn on my own/or pay for a coach to help get me there.)

I do appreciate your thoughts, hell..you're most likely a 2x better tournament player than I..(I think I really only have 20 tournaments ever under my belt)..but now that I am comfortable 2.5xing to 5xing my entire range at these $365s and $580s I want control of the table. I want to be the guy abusing everyone.

That's really my goal.

I think both of our lines have merit.
