A lot of times I am limping in behind someone...

Also, the limping in/stack a donk strategy has helped me get a $20 a hour win rate at 1/2...I think it can still be employed at some 2/5 games.

That being said I definitely need to start raising/3 betting more...

Do you reccomend I raise all pocket pairs 22-77 and scs when in hj co or otb and not take a cheap $5 multiway flop/pot?

Also..should I be raising 22-88 from all positions if any kind of limping is bad?

I understand I should just discard axs, scs....but what about the small pockets?

Open to all advice.

I was more referring to tournaments, in 1/2 cash games yeah its fine with 22-77 from EP/MP, still raising/folding low/mid suited connectors, people at 1/2 play enough stuff that you are dominated very often and you are the one getting coolered. don't mind limping Axs I guess try to cooler somebody. but I'm really talking about the hands where you are limping suited broadways, just raise them from all positions and if you decide to overlimp I would peel rather than fold

I play almost exclusively 2-5nl and higher. To guys saying open limping or limping is "always" bad etc.....is just flat wrong. I've played in games where guys are limping in with A10, AJ etc.... In this case we could limp from the button with almost any two cards.....I guess my point is in live poker almost anything can be profitable given the situations are so unique compared to online. You need to be able to adjust accordingly even if it means doing things that are unorthodoxed

Friday 2/5 Session

66 bb (-15) called raise to set mine/eventually I need to start 3-betting.
55 sb (-15) called raise to set mine/eventually I need to start 3-betting.

From what I am seeing a lot of these $15 opens are POT SWEETENER TYPES and I have established a TIGHT image in these Motor City 2/5 games. Will be starting to 3bet more when I have established image/credit to do so.

KQ otb (60) raise $25, get 1 caller, bet Q high flop, then bet turn and guy folds out.
K3s sb (-5)
Q10 co (-75) raise $25, 2 callers

Q 4h 2h flop. I bet $50, both call.

Ace hits turn.

1 guy checks, other guy bets. I elect to fold. Dude who checks C/R and has a set of twos.

68s hj (-5)
A9s mp1 (-5) l/f
A10 sb (-5)
J9s hj (-5)
1010 mp (-25) called raise, 2 overs on flop, done.
88 mp (50) raise $25, 2 callers, bet j high flop for $50, they both fold.
1010 sb (-35) called raise to set mine, 4 way.

Guy who opened was nitty, that's why I didn't think for a minute to 3-bet with 10s.

Load another $100 on stack. ($450)

52s hj (200) raise $25, 2 callers.

Flop was 5 J 4 rainbow, I bet $50. Got a call.

$175 in pot. Turn was an 8. Checks to me. I check behind.

River is a deuce. Checks to me. I bet $100. He calls and shows KJ. We win with 5/2. Perhaps I should have bet $150 on river. I bet he calls.

99 mp (-275) called $25 raise from a guy who just sat down.

5 way.

$125 in pot.

7h 4h 3c flop

Fishy Asian bets $75. I raise to $150. He tank calls.

Turn is a Jh.

He checks. I check behind.

River is another 4.

Asian bets $100. I call.

He shows 7J offsuit for a turned two pair. MEH.

AA utg (25) r $25, 1 caller, cbet and win.
97s bb (-15) called pot sweetener
Ah7h sb (-70)

Limped pot/4 way.

Flop:

5h 6h 10s

I bet $20. The fish Asian guy calls.

8c Turn. Now I bet $45. He calls quickly again.

River is a brick.

I just don't think I'm going to be able to bluff him off. I check. He bets $100 for value again. I fold.

K6s hj (50) raise $25, 2 callers, bet Ace high flop and win.
99 mp (25) raise $25, 1caller, cbet and win.
A6s co (7) raise $20, all fold.
99 bb (-120) called raise of $20, flop comes 3 3 5. Called a $50 flop bet and a $50 turn bet. River went Check/Check and villain has JJ.
Kj co (120) raise $40, straddled pot, 1caller

Flop goes Kd Qd 9 and it checks to me, I check once for pot control.

Turn is a 6h. I bet $70. Get a call.

River is a brick. Checks to me. I bet $150 for value. Do not get called.

************************************************** ************************************************** ******************************************

1. I gotta open up my raising range/raise more.
2. I have to start 3-betting more and stealing these pot sweetener raises once I have a tight image established/conditions are right.

I smooth call.
What are your thoughts here on flatting instead of 4bing?

I did flat in hopes that he would take the lead/continue firing with his entire range that my AA crushes.

Unfortunately, he flopped quads.

I didn't want to 4bet to $150 and turn my hand face up.

That's why I flatted.

Here is an update for you all....

Sat down at a super nitty $2/$5 table.

Got stuck there because today casino had 3 main games. No must moves. So, most of these hands are at 6 to 8 handed nit/weak passive table.

Kjs hj (7) r $20, all fold
66 hj (-40) r $20, get 3bet to $40.
108 hj (20) r $20, 1c
Aqs mp2 (7) r $20, 1c
22 sb (-100) cr $20

3 4 5 board

Call em down cuz he is only competent/thinking player raising a lot at table and as expected he had crap...but won with J3 suited.

33 bb (-15) set mine
55 (-10) set mine
Ad8d (-30) otb r $30, 3c

Flop is K Js 8s

Done.

K8s otb (20) r $20, 1c

A8s bb (75) 3! $15 open
910s mp 2 (-45) r $20, 1c

KJ utg 2 (-5) l/f
A10o mp 2 (12) r $25
Kk utg2 (45) r $20, 2c
76s hj (65) r $20, 2c
33 mp (-20) set mine
K9s co (20) r $20,1c
108s otb (-30) r $30, 3callers
J9s co (75) r $25, 3 callers

Qd 4 6d cbet

88 mp (-5)
AA sb (-250)

Guy has Quad Kings.

QJs co (-25) r $25, 3c

Give up on flop.

To help you transcribe..

R = raise
CR= check/raise
1c= 1 caller
2c= 2 caller and so on...
l/f= limp/fold
3! = 3bet

Currently down $200, been a grind.

Table is full now tho...hopefully we have a better 2nd half.

JJ sb (-90) call nits $30 r, 3 way

Flop is 8c 4c 3d.

Decide to donk $60 here instead of check/call nit down/to see if we are good.

Nit does raises to $250 and we are done.

67s co (-5)
AdKd utg2 (-150)

Raise to $25. 2 callers.

1 solid player. Otb erratic fish.

Flop is Jc 4c Jd.

We bet $50, solid player folds, fish makes it $125.

We brick the A or K and fish has 44. Nh.

JJ co (-250)

5 limps. Raise to $35 pre. 4 calls.

$140 in pot.

Flop Ks 5s 6h.

Checks around to me.

I figure if I jam only better is calling.

Otb leads 70 at it. All fold to me.

Otb is an active player capable of leading with a flush draw/combo draw/etc...

I jam it.

otb has a set.

I call it quits here down $700 for the night.

I plan on grinding anything I am down via cash game back at 1/2 for you all tho...

My last 3 2/5 sessions have been losers.

So need to grind 1/2 for a week or so anyway now to recoup.

Bad News

I have decided against playing the Heartland Poker Tournament.

I've lost 3 out of my last 4 2/5 sessions and feel as though I've been making a lot of small mistakes that have been adding up.

I've also been running bad and I feel as though I am going to find a way to lose every pot.

I am concerned I won't be playing at 100% efficiency in a $1,650.00 buy in tournament and I don't want to put that amount of money on the line unless I feel 100% confident/at the absolute top of my game.

Good News

Even though we are in the hole as far as cash game action and tournament action goes, I am going to refund full package price + mark up since I didn't fulfill all my obligations.

Also, I have been watching live sweat after live sweat video on Tournament Poker Edge and even though I haven't been playing a lot of tournaments....I still feel that each one of these videos I watch is putting more and more tournament experience under my belt.

I have full confidence I'll be back to feeling 100% soon after I crush $1/$2 NLHE for a week and I'll be doing part of "The People's Freeroll" at Toledos monthly Megastack tournament in the first week of December. (That's a $320 cost.)

I'll also be looking for another $200-$250 tournament to enter as part of the freeroll in the next month.

Everyone who has invested in me from the 2013 WSOP onward will have a piece of me in these tournaments and anything I win will be used to enter a future tournament.

I hope I haven't let you all down too much, but I feel as though I'd be cheating you all if I wasn't playing with 100% confidence in my game tomorrow.

Thanks for your continued support and understanding.

I'll be sending back $$$ starting Monday, please pm me your chase quickpay or paypal info!!!

Justin, just saw the thread.

First of all, that's completely unnecessary. We invest in you as a poker player knowing you aren't perfect. You don't need to refund stakers every time something doesn't work out perfectly or you don't turn a profit.

Secondly, that being said, I do appreciate you not playing a $1650 if you feel you're not playing your best. That is a breath of fresh air imo.

Thirdly, Next time if you feel that way please post earlier. I would have gladly put you in the satellite tonight myself, and I'm sure several others would have told you to at least play the satty to try to shake yourself of the funk.

Figure out what I'm actually due and PM me please. I don't want a full stakeback. I want what I'm due and not a cent more.

Thanks,
JL

As expected....

I won $680 playing $1/$2 NLHE tonight after going to see Ender's Game and letting myself forget about poker for two hours.

So, that would have been me recouping the $700 I lost in last nights $2/$5 session if I didn't already decide to send you guys back full package price + mark up.

I'll be posting my next package within the next few weeks and it will be a zero mark up package because even though I am refunding full price+ MU I still feel bad about not playing The Heartland.

More payments will be sent out Monday.

I already sent funds.

I know you invest in me as a poker player and I know I am not perfect.

But, if I set a schedule, commit to it, and then don't fulfill my obligation to play the schedule I feel as though I have taken advantage of you all and your hard earned money.

If your % of the package wasn't tied up with me you could have invested in another horse in this forum/had a chance to make money there.

Believe me, if I enter a big tournament, make a squeeze play that I think has a chance of working and end up felting on it...

I'm not going to be coming in here and offering to pay you back the full price of the package.

I'm going to make mistakes, lots of them... but that's ok because each one is going to be a rep and the more reps I put in..the more I learn.

Mistakes will be the mechanics that propel this poker machine's growth.

Paying you back the full price of this package is because you invested in me to play a set of events/schedule...and I wasn't able to fulfill the schedule.

Therefore, you didn't get proper chance for me (your bull) to trot back out there and give it his best to win back what we are down+profit.

That's the reason for full price refund.

First off for everyone that says they've never heard of an honest poker player they haven't met the Lot Grinder. What you did was beyond reputable. If you ever need a stake or a reference I will be first in line.

I really hope you decide to come to AC I will be there and will take some of your action for sure.

I think your 1/2 strategy is flawless. You absolutely CRUSH 1/2, maybe you should just stick with 1/2? I know 2/5 sounds like more money, but with your win rate at 1/2 i'm not sure 2/5 is more profitable for you. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Keep smashing 1/2 and getting staked on here for tournaments and eventually you will bink a big tournament and have a roll. Keep ya head up.

You're right.

I beat $1/$2 NLHE for $21.00+ a hour over a 1.3k hour sample size.

However, I beat $2/$5 NLHE for $25.00 a hour over a 300 hour sample size.

So, my goal is to get to $45.00+ a hour by 1k hours and I feel I'll be able to do so once I learn the player pool a little bit better and tweak certain parts of my game.

As long as I remain humble, I have no chance of going broke.

Sure, I may get beat on like a gong for a few $2/$5 session in a row. But, I never let ego get the best of me and I go right back to $1/$2 when I feel my confidence has dropped.

Plus, even when I am losing at the poker table... I am WINNING away from the poker table.

I am not wasting my money on strip clubs.
I am not wasting my money on material possessions.
I am not wasting my money giving it to broke bitches begging for a penny in life just so I can have a girlfriend I don't even like to bang.
While most others are out drinking or getting high, I'm at home watching videos on Tournament Poker Edge, studying strat in the forums, or reading a new poker book.
While others play burned out or on tilt, I'll take time off to go to the gym, watch a movie, or go visit my Grandmother.

On top of all that, even if I went on the most horrific downswing of my life...

I know a lot of you would be right here for me if I ever needed a roll to get started climbing back up the ranks.

So, I want to keep you all as happy as possible with your investment/s in me.

That's another EDGE I have that has nothing to do with poker skill.

So far, this is what Atlantic City is looking like...

Dec 2nd, $365.
Dec 3rd, $365.
Dec 5th, $580.

Then, depending on how those 3 tournaments go, I may end up playing the main event.

After that WSOP Circuit Event, I'll probably head to Maryland for a week.
