Sitting with a hope and a prayer.

Blinds 400/800/100 ante.

We have 7k.

In a 3b pot in last level flop came 9 9 4. We made a cbet that would leave us 12bb left if called or shoved on. We got shoved on and folded. Since then nothing but 83 specials and only time we get AJ. There's an open 3b and 4b shove in front of us....

No matter what happens will post full update on all levels by tomm morning.

Go us.

2016 World Series of Poker Update #3

June 11th, 2016.

Wake up around 8am so I can hit the hotel gym, lift some weights, and get in a thirty minute cardio session before I have to come back to my room and take a shower. Sadly, by the time it comes to get dressed for "The Millionaire Maker" event I realize I forgot my American flag pants, eagle shirt, and "Make America Great Again" Trump hat in my rent a car. "Oh ****," I think. "How am I ever going to make day two in just a hoodie and jeans?" So, I opt to for a Hawaiian shirt, brown shorts, and flip flops. Then I decide to keep the top two buttons undone so my black chest hair sticks out and really wish I had a gold chain or fisherman hat and a vaping pen of some sort to complete the outfit.

By the time I reach The Rio it's 10:05 am and I am jonesing to get to the poker table. I inform the driver I don't have any cash on me and I need to pay via credit card. So, he's like, "Oh. Very sorry. I just started my shift. Let me turn the payment processor on for you." Then after around five minutes the thing finally turns on and all sorts of error codes come up. He says, "Oh sir, this shouldn't be a problem, just let me make a quick call."

I say, "Sorry brother. I won't be waiting with you for another minute." Then I set my Chase credit card on the center console of the vehicle and say, "You have my authorization to charge it for the $9.00 cost of the ride and a $5.00 tip. Nothing more. Nothing less." After that I quickly hop out of the car and start walking. A few seconds goes by and he hops out of the car screaming, "Sir. Sir. You can not leave without payment." I turn around and yell, "You have payment you ****ing idiot. You have my credit card. Charge it for the ride and tip yourself $5.00. And you better do it soon because I am canceling that credit card in a hour. Now leave me the **** alone. It's not my fault your payment processor doesn't work."I mean by gawd, doesn't this jamook know I have a World Series of Poker event to win?

Now onto the event....

Level 1:

Blinds 25/50.

I get to the table with around thirty minutes remaining in the level, quickly notice one highly competent player two spots to my left that I know has won or gone deep in a lot of WSOPc events, then proceed to get dealt absolutely nothing worth raising or worthy of calling a raise with for the duration of the level. Guess I should have just hung out in the cab and waited for the fukking payment processor to work. Oh well.

Level 2:

Blinds 50/100.

Nothing to report for the first forty five minutes of the level except for my friends back home berating me for not showing up to their party and subsequent hotel after party. Obviously, you know who this guy gets his fashion sense from.

Nice fanny pack and t-shirt. I might just have to go with that look at The Electric Daisy Carnival. Anyway, by the end of the level I have KK in the BB and there's one limper by the time it gets to the highly competent guy OTB. He makes it 350 to go. Rather than 3b to 850 and give him a chance to play perfectly by folding, I decide to flat with the intention to check/call all flops. The limper comes along as well so there's around 1100 in the pot when the flop comes out....

7s 4h 2h.

I check, limper checks, OTB leads 550. I call, limper folds.

Turn is a 10s or something like that.

I check, he checks.

River is a 7h completing the heart flush draw.

I check, he pots it, I call.

He doesn't even turn over his cards, so we don't have to turn over ours and show him we are capable of flatting with KK.

Thanks hoss.

Level 3:

Blinds 75/150/25 ante.

This guy sits down and starts getting his nuts hugged by a few players at the table because I guess he just took third in a Venetian MSPT for around $150,000.00.

I think, "Good. I am glad he just won a big tournament score. The alligator is always the most vulnerable after he eats because he's no longer hungry. Hopefully he'll be just like the alligator."

In this level we are again left starving for cards, but Lotzilla makes an appearance when we get to stuff a spewy asian donk in the back of our trunk. Now, to paint the picture of just how bad this guy was playing, imagine nine cars rolling up into a Wal-Mart parking lot, popping their trunks, and then some skinny Asian dude run out from the store and just start peeking his head in every trunk and taking a look around. This dude has just been dying to get himself inside a trunk since the tournament started and finally I was able to slam the hood down on him.

Here's the hand history.

Spewy Asian trunk lover opens to 400 from UTG with around 3500 chips left. There's four callers by the time it gets to me in the big blind and I flat with 7h6h.

Flop is Jd 7d 5h.

Everyone checks.

Turn is a 4h.

Spewy Asian ships it 3.5k and it folds around to me.

I really think he turned some sort of flush draw of an open end straight draw with a pair or ace high or whatever. I just really think my pair of 7's is good and if not I have the flush or straight draw to fall back on.

So I make the call.

He rolls A6 offsuit.

We good and river pairs the board with another 7.

The only other thing worth noting in this level was a white guy that looked to be in his 50's, a lil overweight, sitting down with a stogie in his mouth talking about how he had won 600k on slot machines during the first week of The World Series of Poker, then lost it all back except for like $900 or something he left in his room. So, he had to show some other degen in the slot room that he was a Seven Star and asked if he could borrow $100 because he knew for sure the next spin was going to pay him out. Something about all slot machines having an internal clock or device that makes a certain click or sound when it's set itself to pay out on the next spin. So then the degen who was just asked to borrow money from the other degen says, "Well, if it's gonna pay out I might as well play it," and I guess the guy at my table was right because it hit for $40,000 on the next spin and the degen who refused to loan him the $100 was then kind enough to split it with him.

Now, I know you're probably thinking, "Dude, you know this story is bull****. Why are you even telling us all this?" Well, of course I know the story the guy was telling was probably bull****, but if you don't think something needs to be said about a fifty year old man telling this story to a group full of complete strangers at a poker tournament table, then maybe you need to go surf Poker News and check out how Phil Galfond's chis stack is doing or something riveting like that. These degens who take the time to share their made up stories with us all at the poker tables are the comedic relief we all need at times to keep us sane while playing this soul sucking game that can drive us completely nuts sometimes. Sadly, this man was eliminated before I could have a shot and drink a beer with him.

Level 4:

Blinds 100/200/25 ante.

We start this level with around 13,000 in chips. At this point of the tournament I have won just two hands that I can remember. I remember the frustration was really starting to set in as the two accomplished tournament players at the table were being very active with opens and there was a few fish making calls. I just got absolutely nothing I could 3bet though and I didn't want to take a chance and 3bet on a deep stack with complete trash against two players who really knew what they were doing.

I mean when you are on a 10bb-20bb stack it is EASY to play against active openers. You just shove and know that 8 times out of 10 the active opener is going to have garbage and fold to you. Your two hole cards do not matter. But, when the active player is deep, competent, and way more experienced than you are in 3bet pots that go to the flop, it's just way harder to 3bet them with complete trash. As you all know I am honest to a fault with the assessment of my play and my skill level and I will admit that this is where I feel the accomplished tournament players have an edge on me. So, I am not going to look to work out the kinks in a 1.5k event, I'll be working them out in some smaller upcoming events that I'll be playing and through study or help from those who are reading this thread who want to see Lotgrinder make a deep run in this year's main event.

The only hand I played in this level that I really remember was an active opener opening to 450, two calls by the time it gets to me OTB, and I pop it to 1850 with AsKs, then some dude in the big blind who hadn't played a hand in a hour shoves for 10k. It folded around to me and I also decided to fold. Just wanted to post this hand because I think a lot of tournament players call off here and I remember folding out of this hand and thinking, "Ok. If I fold I'll still have around 40 big blinds left for next level and I have a NIT image built up. So I can definitely start doing some more opening or try a light 3bet because I have the nittiest of all nits image." I see way too many people call off with AK or AQ in these events in 3b or 4b pots where there is no chance there AK or AQ is good. Also, I see way too many people call off with 22-99.

Level 5:

150/300/50 ante.

Turns out I wasn't able to use my NIT image because my table was quickly broken once level five started. I was moved to a table with this masterpiece sitting two spots to my left.

Yes, ladies and gentleman. That is a grown man at a tournament poker table. You can see why I have to combat players like this with eagle shirts, wolf shirts, American flag pants, fanny packs, Donald Trump hats, etc. How are we ever going to "Make Poker Great Again" if we don't make fun of these kind of goobers and shame them back into acting like a normal human being that just came to have some fun and gambooooool with the rest of us here at The World Series of Poker?

This scarf wearing ninja wanna-be travesty's move was to pull the ninja mask up to right below his eyes every time he moved in from seated back position to play a hand and then when he folded out of a hand he would lower the ninja mask back down as he leaned back to relax. I think he was even onto me taking photos of him, but it says right in the Pavilion room that "Photos Are Allowed. But, Video Is Strictly Prohibited." So, if this guy bitched to the floor I was going to say, "What, I thought this guy was famous or something? I mean he's a ****ing ninja at a poker table for christ sakes!!!"

Level 6:

Blinds 200/400/50 ante.

Not much to note in this level or the previous level as you can see. Basically, my opens were getting through or I was getting 3bet out of the pot as all my opens were with hands that could not withstand a 3bet. In these first five levels I had gotten absolutely nothing besides pocket kings once and then that ace/king suited hand I had to fold. Anyway, on the very last hand of the level an interesting spot comes up when I am in the big blind.

Obviously, most players had left a minute or two early so there's only like six players at the table when it gets folded around to this Asian guy who has a massive stack. Twenty chips of every color domination possible he had. Also, he clearly knew the blinds were 200/400, then he drops 550 on his 200 that was already in the pot. I say nothing and wait for the dealer to say something. The dealer says, "That's a raise." This guy pipes up and quickly says, "No. That's a call." I'm thinking, "What the ****." Floor comes over and says, "It's a call."

Anyway, I got KdJd and I'm sitting with around 9k chips here. I decide to just flat and see what happens post flop.

FLop comes down Ah Jh 3c.

He checks, I check.

Turn is a 6c.

He bets 1k. I call the 1k.

River is a 10. He bets 2k. I call 2k.

I just really think he is going to turn over AA, AK, AQ, AJ, or A10 for the ultimate angle shoot on me or turn over nothing.

Thankfully, this guy was not an angle shooter or if he was trying to shoot some sort of angle I have no ****ing clue what it was. So, we go to dinner break with around 13k in chips.

While at dinner this I get this text from Officer Sullivan to boost my confidence.

"Dude, people took drugs for seventy two hours straight at Movement music festival in Detroit. No one died. But, God croaked Prince, Muhammad Ali, and Mr. Hockey all in one month. I told you he is tired of taking losers bro. He wants more winners in heaven. Good thing we have nothing to worry about. You can't win a poker tournament, I can't even solve a simple crime, and I live my life in 30mg increments of adderall. He wants nothing to do with you or me."

Then, when I am cashing out I ask the server, "Is there any way I can pay for the meal on this credit card, tip you $10.00, but then you give me $4.00 actual cash back out of your pocket because I feel like a complete loser every time I ask for two bottled waters at the poker table, but can't tip a dollar. She tells me, "No. She can't do that." So, I leave her a $1.00 tip instead of a $6.00 tip. Fukking idiots.

Level 7:

Blinds 250/500/75 ante.

Just playing my standard short stack game in this level. Nothing much to report on but "The Ultimate Slowroll" in honor of one of my all time favorite greats "The Ultimate Warrior."

This young kid with around 30,000 in chips opens from UTG to 1000. There's one caller by the time it gets to a highly competent and active German kid OTB who 3bets to 2700 with a 45000 stack of his own. It folds back around to the young kid who flats. Everyone else folds.

Flop comes down Ad As Js.

Kid from UTG checks. German kid otb cuts out 3500 in chips. Kid from UTG tank calls.

Turn is a 4s.

Kid from UTG checks. German kid otb cuts out 6500 in chips. Kid from UTG tank calls.

River is a 10s.

Kid from UTG checks. German kid otb cuts out 11,000 in chips. Kid from UTG tanks for two minutes. Grabs his chip stack like he is just going to dump them all in the pot. Then quickly sets them back down. Tanks for another thirty seconds and says "Call."

German kid says, "You win."

Kid from UTG rolls A10 offsuit for a full house!!!!!

I ask the German kid, "Are you a liar, scammer, thief, or owe some people that guy owes some money or what?" German kid seems super shocked I'd ask that and says, "No. No. No. I would never do that." Then I say, "Man, then I don't know what the **** you did to deserve that. I hope you come back and felt his ass." Then the kid who did the slow rolls starts talking about how it was for his tournament life and how the German kid could have had a jack in his hand.

Level 8:

250/500/75 ante.

In this level we hovered between a 10bb stack and a 25bb stack. We were giving it everything we had. Unfortunately, we may have chose a spot to 3bet where a shove might have been the most optimal line. There was a foreign kid, definitely a little overweight, he was wearing an Adidas shirt, running well, playing well, and definitely competent. I had not been overly active in these. So, I felt my 3bets were definitely carrying a lot of weight.

Anyway, this it folds to this kid in MP and he opens to 1200, he is quickly flat called by the tightest guy at the table who is sitting with 15k and I am thinking "****, I have AQ offsuit here, I can't just fold it, that's too nitty. But, I don't want to shove my AQ for 14k and be snap called by this super tight dude who is just flatting with AK or a hand like QQ or KK to make sure an ace doesn't come then go all in. So, I decide to put in a 3bet to 3500 with 100% intention to fold to the tightest guy at table if he comes back over the top and goes all in.

To our surprise, it is the kid who calls out 3b for 3.5k, then the tightest dude at the table folds out of the hand.

After that the flop comes out 9 9 4 rainbow.

Foreign kid checks to us, we slide out 4k because if we get shoved on and have to fold that still leaves us with 12 big blinds to fight with. And sadly, to our dismay, shove is exactly what he did and our tournament life was now on the line.

So, immediately I start thinking, "My ace high is good here." But, I would rather drink a cup full of razor blades than make a catastrophic mistake here and have this guy turn over a pair on us where we would then only have a 25% chance to win the hand by the river. Plus, it had been almost eight hours of poker and I just thought for sure we'd find a premium hand to shove twelve big blinds with within the next twenty hands so I started to fold my AQ and wait for what fate would have in store for me.

No doubt that the Public Image Track "Rise" was going through my head as I sat there thinking about how I could have folded the best hand with Ace high on the 9 9 4 flop.

"I could be wrong, but....I could be right."

Level 9:

Blinds 300/600/100 ante.

We enter this level with a hope and a prayer.

Sitting with just 9 blinds.

We finally get a spot where the active foreign kid and everybody folds pre by the time it gets to us in the BB. Now, normally I wouldn't even look at my hand here and I'd shove. But, I knew for sure if I shoved here he was calling. So, I looked down and planned to fold complete trash. This year, I found a Kh8h to ship with and we would have to improve against pocket twos if we wanted to get our stack back up to around 20 big blinds and have a real chance to get back into the fight.

But sadly, as fate would have it, this will not be the year we money in "The Millionaire Maker."

Thanks for all the thread cheers and well wishes guys.

We'll get em next tournament.

Jimmy Got His Gun

Since guns will be a hot topic for the next few days, let me share a story of my own. I know a guy named Jimmy down at the local Detroit casinos. Jimmy is a nice guy, sixty, wife has passed away, so he is single, and kind of flashy with his money. Anyway, he gets himself a nice sugar baby, some people hate on him, I'm like, "You go Jimmy," hell, if you got the money why would you ever let yourself be lonely at that age anyway? You can't take it with you, right?

So, Jimmy decides he likes to play around with the young ladies. He finds himself one that is kinda hood. Something just don't seem right about her. He cuts her off. Few weeks go buy Jimmy gets a knock on his door. He opens it and is shoved to the floor, gun in his face. Big black guys says, "Where's the money and your gold?" Jimmy says, "It's up in the bedroom. In a drawer. I'll take you to it. You can have anything you want. Just don't kill me. I got grandkids."

Young thug hangs by the bedroom door and makes the old man empty out all his drawers. Then slowly bring his valuables over and pile it by his feet. Finally he says, "Now where is the fukking money!" Jimmy says, "It's under the bed. You want me to grab it or show you?" So, Jimmy decides to take a coin flip for his life. If the guy walks over and looks under the bed he will see a loaded revolver, but if he makes Jimmy do it the old man will have a chance to grab his weapon and start unloading some slugs into this dirt bag's chest.

As fate would have it, the intruder tells Jimmy to "Bring it to me," and shortly after old man Jimmy bends down to reach underneath his bed he pops up like Rambo out of the lake firing bullets. Shakey hands make most miss, but a few find their target, and it's no surprise this big burly man wasn't so tough anymore after a few slugs were unloaded into his chest. So, he decides to make a run for it.

Bad news for him was his getaway driver deserted him when he heard shots going off inside the home. Good news for Jimmy's grand kids is that the old man owned a gun and with some quick thinking was able to save his own life. If you have any problem with what people do in the privacy of their own home, how they enjoy their hard earned money, or if they want to protect themselves with a gun you are all sorts of fukked up in my opinion.

Lotzilla,

I was casually browsing Netflix last night and stumbled upon a recommended movie called "Oldboy," the 2004 Korean version. I took a gamble and watched it, and it wasn't until about half-way through that I realized it was Park Chan-wook in it, none other than the guy in the Korean revenge song. Park Chan-wook Korean revenged like no other, and I recommend if you need something to get you in a proper soul-crushing revenge spirit, you watch this. A WSOP bracelet is almost guaranteed after watching this.

Hey guys, I haven't played any tournaments since "The Millionare Maker" and I partied much too hard at EDC and my Prince tribute party to play any events this week. So, I am going to cash out this package, look for a freeroll or two to play that I promised you guys, and try my best to get the money together to play The Main Event.

The reason why I do not feel like playing tournaments this week is anyone who tells you they can take MDMA and LSD for a few days straight, then come back and play 24-36 hours worth of almost mistake free poker to win a tournament is a liar. So, it would be irresponsible of me to play on backers funds this week. Instead I decided to fly home, see Guns N Rose tonight in Detroit, then plan to play my A-C game at PLO the next couple weeks where I can still win $30+ a hour while on my C game while my mind and body slowly recovers from EDC weekend. Like I said, I'll look for a fun tournament to freeroll as well.

Please message me with your paypal info, chase qp info, venmo info, or square cash info, and I'll get funds back asap.
