Have always defended Nick, but really disappointed after reading that Tweet. Zima, please post in here if and when Nick clears things up.

I met nick this year at the rio since all he played were single table satellites and I played those exclusively outside of my WSOP event schedule. I don't know him that well but my gut says he will pay everyone back. I'm not sure when that will be, I'm fairly certain he needs to raise money to do so. I have met a lot of people in the poker world and feel like I have a good sense of judgement although this story about the hospital would void my opinion if it happened to be true (obviously)

He purchased 2% of one of my good friends in the main event, who has a decent stack like 200 people out of the money. If/when he cashes I will find out who nick owes and divide that equally among everyone.
The funny thing is 2+2ers only know about 10% of the scamming hes done, and most of the stuff you do know you dont know all the details.

If he had an emergency minutes before cards were in the air why didn't he post here and on Twitter immediately? No contact made with his investors yet on 7/11 and 7/12 he was putting items for sale in the marketplace before finally posting in here early morning 7/14? Come on...

Did investors know about the charity scam allegations (among other allegations of shadiness)? I mean I know stories can get twisted quickly on the internet and it's hard to seperate fact from fiction at times but seems like there were plenty of people selling shares who were far less risky.

I find it strange that while you "don't know him that well" you are also going to "find out who nick owes and divide that equally among everyone"

This whole situation to me is starting to smell bad. If it was a last minute emergency that drew him away, wouldn't he still have the initial stakes? Am I missing something here, or does it just look like he tried to satellite in, and blew all the stakes trying?
Lol @ u

You find it strange that im trying to help? Pretty sure in a community like this w so much money changing hands and little to no contracts regarding that money it's everyone's duty to make sure things are right if they have any control.

He has 2% of my friend. If he clearly owes people money i feel it's my obligation to not hand his piece over to him but rather to the people he owes. I agreed w you that he likely doesn't have the money to pay back right now hence the other thread of him selling off a bunch of ****.

Nick has a personality that draws people in. Looshle is just talking from his experience which is always great in the beginning.

I don't understand that defense either. Didn't he call you a "f@cking loser" on Twitter last summer/fall? Did you miss that? If someone did that to me, I certainly wouldn't be defending him.

My take on this in the infamous charity thread...

Yep, it is pretty sad. I tried to tell people to be careful with him and a lot of people listened but there were many people who didn't. Regardless of the outcome with this Main Event thing, as far as I can tell, he left Vegas with all of his investor's money. OK, it was an emergency. I have no problem with that but why did it take someone else to say that he had not played for him to admit it and this is a few days later? In the meantime, he makes some ambiguous posts on Twitter that indicate that he might have played and got knocked out; however, they are not clear but clearly he doesn't say on Twitter that he didn't play or will be returning his investors' money. Also, in the meantime, he put a bunch of stuff up for sale in the marketplace before he even admitted to not playing.

Further, as of Friday afternoon, I have seen no posts with anyone reporting that they got their money back yet and Day 1D was 5 days ago. At a minimum, this is not kosher and he should have immediately said that he didn't play and the money would be returned shortly. This definitely does not surprise me at all and I hope that people get their money back ASAP unlike FullTilt victims and the Children's Hospital of Oakland and maybe even the breast cancer awareness group (this is speculation but I would like to see proof of that donation).

Bottom line-Nick, please get off the drugs!!! If anyone needed Jesus or Buddha or whatever, it is Nick.
Also, he said he had to leave Vegas because of an emergency on July 10th before he played Day 1D but on his Twitter, he said, he was going back to Cali on July 11th...

on 2+2...

Sorry I am working on it, everyone has been contacted who bought shares itt and will be reimbursed today/tomorrow by the latest. I had an emergency minutes before sitting down to play Sunday and had to leave Vegas immediately.
and on Twitter...

Brutal day. Like a man said few weeks ago in a $275 satellite at 4am "I hate poker and everyone who plays it." Back in cali going to sleep

At a minimum, something is very fishy with this sequence of events and his statements (and lack thereof).

guess I misread/misunderstood his twitter (added it at the last minute and did not read it thoroughly)...he was back in cali on the 11th so not quite as shady as I thought...sorry nick for the misquote. I just hope you pay everyone back very soon.

Even good players have lots of friends that they vouch for end up being cheats/scammers. Sometimes they know in advance sometimes they don't.

you totally ignore the fact that the tweet is intentionally vague to imply he busted the main without saying that he busted the main, sounds like he probably sold 500% of himself and skipped town hoping he wouldn't get caught with the "family emergency" angle if he was

you must have missed this then (which is in the same post)...

Nick just posted a couple statuses on Facebook. Looks like he is working hard to get your funds back to you:

I'm not sure if you have a reading comp. problem or a learning disability. I didn't once in that post say I was defending him. I said I had defended him in the past and this whole thing is really pissing me off for doing so (previous post said this whole thing made me disappointed, but it all boils down to the same thing.) Me defending him in the past and **** going down like this makes MY reputation look bad, so yes, I'm pissed. I am in no way defending what happened here and am hoping all investors get their money back ASAP, which is why I asked Zima to update this thread as soon as he had any info.

I don't really give one tine **** if you dislike me, but before you post any more ignorant **** about me, you may want to slow down, look at the previous ****ing post and learn how to read correctly.

LMAO, I was talking about the past not now obviously so maybe it is you that has the ego and/or learning disability there (lolz), tiger and it made no sense for quite awhile especially when he publicly called you a f@cking loser at least once. Too funny. Settle down, dude.

You were also a complete jerk and ignorant douche when I was trying to get the money for the Children's Hospital so glad to see you actually care about what is going on this time and care more about it than defending your hero and attacking those people who are trying to investigate it. wp and gg

I'm not planning on mucking up this thread with whatever issues you seem to have with me. My thoughts in the previous thread were logically sound and explained just fine there. If you want to re-hash things about it, then do it in another thread.

And it's not like we need any of you to stick your nose in and possibly get into a confrontation you have no desire to be involved in. A post report only goes to the mods of this forum.
unless those mods tell the person who reported them, thats a good motivator to help patrol the marketplace

Nick has made good for at least Charder and I. Obviously I'm not happy about what went down and I certainly won't be investing in Nick again but I am pleased to say that he got the money back to me pretty quickly.
07-16-2011 , 10:44 PM
I understand the frustration Shawn. I do feel I did the right thing not playing, would not have been fair because I would not have been able to play my best and give you the best shot at making money. I paid 10% fee for the trouble as my way of saying sorry.
07-16-2011 , 10:47 PM
That's fine of course but the ambiguity of your tweet combined with your lack of updating in this thread and any of your investors that you were not playing certainly doesn't leave me with a good impression.
