Hey everyone I just busted the 1K after the dinner break (level 7 I believe)

Things started out really promising as my table was quite good and I chipped up from the 3K start to about 11-12K at my highest point around level 5.

Unfortunately I stopped winning hands starting at level 6 (100/200) and lasting until my bustout after the dinner break midway through level 7 .

Notable hands were,
-doubling early with TT>AKo my BB vs the SB who was a tough young good LAG.
-restealing J9s for 5.5K from the SB. This was vs a very unique fish who opened a ton, splashed around, yet folded AKo faceup vs someone elses resteal shove (whos on a wideish range) Anyhow, the guy opened the CO and he folds a massive amount of his range as I had him comfortably covered, but unfortunately he happened to have KK and I didn't suckout.
- A few raised pots didn't go my way for pretty much all of level 6.
- Level 7 I shoved K8o on the button for 13.5 BBs, but the SB woke up with JJ. Didn't spike, gg.

Outlasted most of the field, felt good, but hit a hard cold streak near the end of the day.

gonna grind some MTTs Sunday online, and get back at it Monday.

Just lost chiplead pot on the bubble basically, with 5 more hands to play before day 2 and new table draw.

Couldn't decide whether to 4bet/call or stuff this hand, I decided stuffing for 90BB was better (even though I rarely do it.)

gonna take some time off, I don't know how I'm going to deal with a month of this.

This would make a normal 4 bet a good option as we know he can 5bet light

obv you can't possibly say that without knowing their dynamic but the Q9o thing makes this a much clearer small 4bet.

Shake it off and move on to the next one. You built your stack to 20x starting stack! If you do that every time on day 1 you'll probably win something

Yeah in hindsight I should have 4 bet it to 14K or w/e. It was a lazy decision with only a few hands left in the day to just jam. Looked at the pot which was already like 12K or something and I was like "ARR IN!"

When I got back I played around with some 5 bet ranges, and the stuff I induce against I am like 60-%65% vs

Intuitively I knew I was around here, I thought with how soft the field was picking up the pot (which was reasonable already) and staying alive/ coasting through day 2 was a good plan, but this much equity is just too much to give up in hindsight.

Just busted my third event without much of a sweat.

Some key hands:

A3s - flatted a raise to $225 with Ac3c at level 2, guy behind me overcalled, flop Ax9c3y, PFR (old guy should have legit range and look strong) Cbet 250, I raise to 625, guy who has been quiet thus far raises instantly to 1500, I think for a bit and feel confident about folding. He then says "I'll show ya if you fold" and I'm like really? makes the decision closer but maybe he is just crapping himself with A9 or something, w/e I still end up folding after awhile and he showed AQ lol.

KJo - raised in EP to 225, 1 caller (a "gambly" looking asian guy), flop was KxQs3y, I bet something like 350, turn was 4s, I bet 850 setting up a perfect river valueshove. River was the ugly Ts. I think for awhile and check, he bets 1500 and I fold, he shows A3s for thee ole doublefloat (on that board, really?) and river bluff, sigh.

AA - BTN raises, SB 3 Bets, I wake up with AA and jam, both get it all in, BTN has KK, SB has JJ, hook on the flop and it holds

0-3 so far but I am feeling really good about my showing so far, built a 4x stack in first event, a 20x stack in second event, and got it in great in the third event (even though I was short and may or may not have misplayed some hands)

Also, Jorj was in the seat right behind me which was kinda funny.

meh, earlyish departure from the $1500 PLH

my crippling had was an overlimp (I dunno I like this play with my stack) from UTG+1 with 88 at 50/100 with a 45BBs or so. Another player limped behind me, and the monkey on the BTN fullpotted it. A younger asian guy who had been splashing around a fair amount flat called in one of the blinds, UTG folded, and I repotted for basically a shove. The BTN tank-called with 77, and the guy in the blinds tarped us all with AA, srsly wtf imo.
Dumb hand.
I departed 2 levels later losing with TT vs KJs vs my friend Bryce AIFP (jerk)

I decided to take todays event off, and focus on tomorrows 1K.
The 1K is a significantly softer tourney than anything else I have played here (although they have all been good so far obv.)
I have been playing everyday and am going to use today to catch up on some errands.

Today's buy-in was a $1500, so $1500 x 1.2 = $1800

Each 1% share is now worth a minimum of $18, woot!

busted todays 1K at level 5 or so.

Stack got up to 12K at the peak.

Key hands:

I raised mid to 250 with Q7ss, flop was AxKs8s guy C/C, turn was offsuit 3 guy C/C 750, river was an offsuit 9, villian checks, I shove for just over 2K and have him covered just barely (I obv planned ahead.) He folds after 20 seconds or so which makes me think he folded a good ace and likely close to his entire range.

My bustout hand was an open in the HJ to 450, getting flatted by a guy who seemed like a splasher who had a big stack at that point (he had 14K or something at level 5)
I raised Ax9s in HJ got flatted right behind me, flop was 9x3s2s, I bet 575, he raised to 1500, I had 5500 to start the hand or so, and stuck it in. I then got nitrolled by JJ, so I'm not sure if my read was off here, because the flop 3B is obv bad if he always has me badly beat and doesn't fold. But these kinds of villians seem to occasionally play back or "see where they are at" with stuff like 88 or T9, or whatever draws. It's not like the guy was on old rock, he was like a early 30's middle eastern looking dude just sticking money in. Confident my bustout hand was "meh, fine" but I guess I don't feel 100% about it.

After playing the 1k yesterday i can tell you for sure that your flop shove is the best play. My god those things are softer than I could have imagined and I went in thinking it was gonna be sooooooft.

busted yesterdays $1500 6max. I LOVE the pace of this event, it is such a great event for me and I'm really excited about the other two on my schedule.

My stack got up over 30K at its peak, but once again, with about 250 to go I couldn't put anything together. It's getting really aggravating to play these things all the way until level 9 or 10 and then "bubble."

My bustout hand was a 4 bet shove CO vs SB with 55 < JJ. My very first twitter update said my bustout hand would look "spewy," after I 4 bet shoved A8s early in the day against the most obv idiot. I made about 6 or 7 4-bet shoves throughout the day in spots where it was only good if I had significant fold equity and I got a fold each time, up until here I finally ran into something.

Anyhow, feeling really excited for the 5K today, I hope I can at least make another sweat out of it.

just busted todays 5K NL.

I was really shocked at how soft the field was after what people were telling me, although it is possible I just ran well at the tabledraw.

I lost at level 10, this level is murdering me, in every tournament.
I raised Q2s from mid with just under 30BB, after a tablechange and a very tight image at this table. Crazyish Asian flats (I saw him check-minraise 52 on 982 and call a massive shove then hold vs the nutflushdraw, haha, but I didn't think this would mean he messes with my openraise often enough,) nittier seeming but more unknown Asian (oxymoron?) overcalls, and one of the blinds calls. Flop is 3s2s2x. I get it in on the flop vs the second caller and he has 33 obv. 55K pot or something.

I am looking forward to tomorrows day off and then the PLO for a change of pace. I am extremely frustrated at how long I have lasted in each tournament beating 3/4ths of the field in almost all of them and building some sort of a stack, and yet coming up empty handed with cashes. I'm certainly not a nit, and not blinding down or anything... just can't seem to get anything going in the late levels of day 1.

I'm going to clear my head and just keep plugging away, I am putting forth my best effort and I hope to produce some results eventually for you guys, and myself.

for the record I busted the PLO tourney after the dinner break on day 1.

Nothing to really add in particular, I played a pretty standard +EV PLO tournament strategy.

Bustout hand was Mark Seif limping, some old donk limping, I pot AQQ9ds, Seif calls, the donk calls, flop is 237 or something, check to me I bet halfpot all in, Seif folds, donk calls with JT22 lol.

hey andrew,
thanks for all the updates! you've been pretty unlucky in the keypots, but it's great to see that you dont give up.
it was obvious that you cash in some mtt eventually, i hope now you make a really deep run in the 2.5k 6max so that you can enjoy your vacation in a couple of days even more

busted the 1K without much of a sweat, not a whole lot to say about that one. 88<AK pretty early in

made day 2 of the 2.5K 6max but just lost a very key flip for about 140K chips, (I would've had 70BBs and been very comfortable)
Very standard 3bet/ calloff with AKs in the SB vs the BTN who was a kid on like a 793% range, when I saw AKs I was like oh, free chips, no way I can lose this pot. Somehow he had TT and the flop came QJx and bricked off :/

Tiltttttttt, finally cashed in something though.

I cashed for $5,669 in 85th place

quick bustout to the $1500 -

really only played two key hands.

at level 2 (50/100) I min Ad2d. Bad station calls, unknown calls out of the blinds.
Flop Td6s4x r , check, I bet?, call, fold, turn is beautiful As, I bet he calls, river is the 4s, I bet he calls with 9s8s :/.

A few orbits later spewy kid raises, passive guy calls on BTN who didn't seem particularily tight, I ship KQs from SB for 20BBs. Kid folds, passive guy nitrolls AKo and it holds.

Fu*king fu*k fu*k

was in a great position to make a run.

Had like a 60K stack in todays 5K 6max after I put a really bad beat on Jem when I 3B and JCarver cold 4bet allin with KQo, Jem had KK and iso shoved but I called obv with QQ and spiked my case queen (40K pot at 100/200/25).

Then I was in the zone and played some nice pots including a C/C, C/C, CRAI river bluff with Tc7c on a Ts5h3d 6h Qh board.

I had heaps (maybe like 60-70K?) and just stopped winning every hand from level 6 onwards. Our table had a pretty annoying lag to my right who never folded ever, for any amount, on any street (which is fine) and my counter is to just take thin value hands to showdown, but when he opens every pot and you never make a pair or better for 3 hours the stack dies.

I ended up losing a pretty big pot with 66 raise/calling shove vs a guy who looked at the Ace of spades only and then rolled over then 9s after the chips were in and then the dealer proceeded to give him aces full.

I eventually went out getting coolered and losing with QQ vs AA at level 9 for a 60K pot or so. :/

Really really frustrating

Just got back from vacation (ya mon), unfortunately I arrived in Michigan with my mates too late for domestic travel back to Vegas yesterday, and there were no direct flights available this morning.

I had to skip the event so there will be another $1800 refunded.

This is a list of my unfortunate progress so far.

June 4, 2010 12 Noon No Limit Hold'em $1500 $1,800 (DNP)
June 14, 2010 12 Noon No-Limit Hold'em (6-handed) $2500 $5,669
June 15, 2010 12 Noon Pot-Limit Omaha $2500 $3,000 (DNP)
June 28, 2010 12 Noon No-Limit Hold'em $1500 $1,800 (DNP)

So far I have $12,269 in cashes and missed events getting returned to investors, we are running bad because this number should be around 30K or so for break even-ness.

I still have over 20K in buyins left so a big chunk (~40%) of the package is still to be played and hopefully I can run better.

June 29, 2010 12 Noon Triple Chance No-Limit Hold'em $3000
July 1, 2010 12 Noon No Limit Hold'em $1000
July 2, 2010 5 PM No-Limit Hold'em $2500
July 5, 2010 12 Noon World Championship $10000
July 12, 2010 noon? No Limit $5,000

Even though I have poor results in the WSOP I feel great about the effort I am giving each tourney and the amount of deep runs I have made. I feel refreshed and ready to go tomorrow.
