Second level of the main event so blinds at 150/300.

I was sitting on about 70K or so and playing pretty aggressively up until that point. Was opening a lot of pots, partly because the table wasn't playing back at me and partly because I was getting pretty good cards. Showed down one hand where I had opened 32s and flopped a flush and another hand where I had 93s and triple-barrel bluffed so anyone paying attention should know that I was capable of playing a wider range.

Notes on villain

Villain was a mid-30's American guy on my immediate right who had been playing pretty solid so far. Opening a pretty reasonable range. Seemed to be playing pretty straightforward postflop.

We had one noticeable showdown where we got all the chips in the middle when we each had 87s and the board ran out T946 giving each of us the nut straight so had a very anticlimactic chop.

I had also 3bet him a couple times prior and he just folded each time.

The hand immediately before this one:

Action folds to Villain in HJ who opens to 700. I 3bet to 2100 and get cold-called by a weaker player in the blinds. Villain flats too.

Flop comes 345r and it checks to me. I fire a 1/3 pot cbet. Weaker player in the blinds raises a small amount (basically a min-raise). Villain folds and I call.

Weaker player in blinds fires again on a blank turn and I fold.

The hand in question

Action folds to Villain who is now in MP. He opens again to 700.

I pick up AQo and 3bet to 2100, the exact same amount as the previous hand. Everyone else folds and Villain calls.

Flop comes KJ7r. Villain checks and I cbet 1/3 pot. Villain calls.

Turn comes T completing my straight, still no flush draws on the board. Villain checks to me. There's about 7600 in the pot so far and each player has at least 40K behind.

What sizing should I use here?

What sizing would you use with a bluff or a set? It should be consistent.

If there's fewer flush draw possibilities I always size lower across my whole range.

I would bet something like 1/3 pot here again... 2200-ish.

If the turn was a flush draw possible card I would be betting closer to 2/3rds pot.

^^im sorta asking you. I have my opinion obviously but curious to get thoughts here.

I don’t necessarily agree that we need to use one sizing for our entire range here. I don’t want to bias the discussion with my full thoughts just yet, but I think this is clearly a spot where we should be thinking exploitatively given the game flow.

So my question is what sizing la most exploitative here given the situation?

Doesn't seem like a super interesting spot, V hasn't done anything that indicates his range is particularly strong (nor weak necessarily), so I would just proceed accordingly and bet a "normal" size of 5-5.5k.

I get that you have an aggro image, but on this board texture there aren't a ton of bluff combos you can/would have, and you don't really have an aggressive dynamic with Villain specifically per se, so I don't think there are sufficient criteria to support doing something unusual like overbetting turn.

That 10 is unlikely to have helped him a lot unless he’s made 2 pair or decided to play tens this way, so a bet just under or over half pot? 3500-4000 or so, betting small to induce a check raise is kind of pointless since if he was gonna raise a 2k bet for value he would do it to a 4k bet. Given the table dynamics you might be able to get him to pay off a larger bet, but if they are paying attention and realized you were betting small to bluff, a large bet may send alarm bells to your opponent.

I ended up deciding to overbet. Thought I could take advantage of my image, but in hindsight i probably overthought this.

5K
and if you're going to overbet anywhere, do it on an unpaired river

I like 3.5k here but I feel betting more is fine also. Do we ever check here in position to feign weakness and let opponent bet river where we raise on river on safe river cards we still have the nuts on?

I feel like bet turn small at around 3.5k and then bet a bigger amount on river close to pot size when we have the nuts and the board doesn’t pair etc

if you're really concerned about your image and you have an aggro image then you should have probably bet smaller. This would entice me to call more thinking that you're just blasting away. An overbet would really make me stop in my tracks and think about it a lot more if I were villain.

I think I would try and size a bit on the lower side, keeping the weakest of his range (QT, QJ, KQ, AJ, AK, maybe even A10) in the pot. I think a large bet is going to fold out these hands too often and no one is bluff-catching in Lvl 2 of the Main, so sizing high to look like a bluff is just leveling yourself out of equity.

I like smaller sizing, too. With that said, with stacks this deep and it being this early, I'm not going 30-35%, probably 40-45%. I'd probably go like 3200.

I like a slightly larger sizing as the T is not a terrible card for him. Often he makes 2 pair or adds a straight draw to his pair like KQ, QJ, QT. Since I believe these hand types probably make up the large bulk of his range and are likely to call a larger turn bet, I'd opt for like 5200 which is also a sizing I'd prefer when bluffing.
