Tough spot in this hand. Stats on villain are 44 hands VP 32 PFR 25.
His line is very polarizing. Should I have 3bet the flop to control the pot?

3-betting or flatting pre is fine.

Tough spot for sure. We have some JXs in our range. AQ is still a decent bluff catcher. We'd rather not have any Kx or Tx in our hands as those block his T9s and KTs. We block his AA, AJ, QQ and QJ value combos. Maybe we only call AQ when we have a diamond in our hand as that unblocks his flop back door flush draws, and gives him less combos of suited hands.

I haven't looked at the spoiler (plz domt include them ) But im calling flop/turn and folding river. His VP is high which means he can have a lot of air but also a lot Jx.
River bet just seems so strong, the 2/3-3/4 pot bet where they dont want to scare you off with a pot bet but also want more value than 1/2 pot.

I cant see anything merit in raising the flop you mostly fold out worst and get called by better,by controlling pot do you mean raise to then check back turn? That seems wrong

tough spot. most of the time I hero call I am wrong. Just overfold the river as the population does not bluff enough. Also, the board is relatively dry.

I would have probably 3bet pre.

nh, I think in theory, river is a bad spot for him to bluff as we proly have enough Jx to make his line unprofitable, ie: I proly play AJo/KJs the same

8m vs utg 1 you can split your range and 3b AQs and flat AQo which is fine

You sorta need to pony up a raise here at some point. Flatting in position with a strong hand against a guy with a pfr of 25, even with a lol small sample size, that strikes me as a very weak play. If you are regularly going along for the ride with good hands that should be raising then that is a leak that is not too had to fix: Don't be passive, just go ahead and bet your good hands. Simple as that. Raising in position with A-Q would not be the most outlandish move ever.

^ i think we flat Jx post-flop on all streets if V is intent on barrelling.

lack of any flush draws in V range. weight of Jx in Hero range. lack of T9o KTo combos in UTG1 range. i'd expect population to be underbluffing otr.

question is whether we should be calling turn imo. (OMCs like me) have an inherent dislike of calling turn and folding river.

I would also flat Jx up to the river. But we don't have Jx, do we. The point I am trying to make is that by playing the hand so passively we have managed to put a third of our chips in the pot while at the same time we turn a pretty good hand and position into nothing more than a bluff-catcher.

Do we want to flat a raise from an agro player now and then when we have a good hand in position? sure, of course we do. Do we want to make a habit of it? Absolutely not.
