The standard at high stakes has gone back to something like 2.5xBB, as people realized 2.0-2.2xBB was giving too good a price to defend. They also seem to be going for 4x open 3-bets, as they realized that otherwise the initial raiser has too good odds to flat call. At one time it was thought difficult to flat call and they were 3-betting less than 2x open.

Sizing at midstakes depends on how others are playing and your style. Maybe try 4x opens and limps like the 1990s to confuse opponents and represent you are a donk.

That is exactly what I have been doing in the soft , large WSOPc fields. it tended to get the recs to do what I wanted and maybe the hoodie wizard's heads explode ( was worht just to see the looks on their faces). I started to wonder if I was losing value and thats why I asked.

thanks again for all the advice ITT. has given alot to think about and improve.

I was half joking, not really recommending that, but there is no reason to follow closely current bet sizing conventions, and you may confuse opponents by not following them. There are some problems, like committing too much to steal with a larger sizing late in the tournament. A small sizing will result in some BBs defending with almost any two cards. Early in the tournament, when raises are getting multiple callers, then raising relatively big may be better.

it's more complicated than that

3! sizing is a mixed strat with part of the range in 3x and part in 4x, with adjustments for OOP raises from the blinds
