$35 MTT, final table. 10 places paid. Approximate payouts: 600-350-260-205-165. Blinds 2500/5000/500.

Blinds are maniacs, overshoving a lot. BTN is reg and views me as reg. I have folded last 30 hands, as totally card dead. Always opened or shoved in front of me. CO has been sitting out for 50 hands and it is pretty certain I can fold into 4th. The payout difference isn't much, but my stack is small, so maybe not that much chance of higher places. I expect BTN to be aware of how I have been playing, my tournament situation, and maniacs behind him and call tight. I expect blinds to ignore that and call fairly loose.

Hero UTG 35K
CO (sitting out) 28K
BTN 149K
SB 172K
BB 266K

What is my shoving range?

IMO i would say close to 20%. With 7bb i dont know if your image will be considered here. I think you still have a chance for higher places, 1 double up and you will have more FE and could damage the other stacks.

I actually pushed 88, the SB called with ATs and I busted. I think the pushing range should be tighter than normal with 7xBB, tighter than 20%, because there is some value in folding my way up a space with the small stack.

I think I might disagree with that. There doesn't seem a lot of value in leveling up one spot. On the other hand 7bb, you still have some fold equity and will often have the best hand, but if you drop anymore you will lose all your fold equity. We wanna play to give ourselves a chance to win. These payouts are topheavy.

I like this, as long as you have FE you are always a chance of getting the win. With you probably being the best of the 5 players left i think i would prefer trying to exploit the situation a little more and try and run your stack up, rather then ladder one spot.

I wasn't sure about this because even though the payout jump is small, my stack is small relative to the others.

Not sure I was the rest player left. BTN was a fairly well known reg. SB or BB were very agro, but awful, so yeh there is some advantage in trying to accumulate, and maybe get HU or something versus a donk.

I think this is a very easy shove.

There would be an argument for folding if the short stack had less than 1bb and going through the blinds in next 2-3 hands.

You have barely more than him so if you fold your way to 4th you will be blinded away and finish 4th unless a miracle.

Worse there's a chance he comes back with 2-3bb and doubles up.

The pay jump is very small and doubling up gives you a very playable stack with FE in 3bet shove spots and a real shot at top 3.

couldnt helped myself and laughed at "he views me as a reg and I folded last 30 hands" part

I think there's no value in folding hands like 88 until sitoutguy would bust.

The guy sitting out might come back time, though. It still takes 2 and a half orbit for him to bust out. The fact could change some close decisions from push to fold, but this one isn't a close decision at all.

The 2 players to my right were agro with big stacks. It was never getting passed to my except UTG. They were often making 30xBB overshoves, and likely would not fold to a resteal. I had Axo 3 times in those 30 hands, but no pps, better aces, good Ks, good suited cards or anything. I don't see why I should play a hand there to impress people that I was a good player.

BTN is fairly well known and he was familiar with me viewed me as a reg for various reasons, none having to do with the quality of my play in this tournament.

I didn't post my hand initially, because I knew 88 was an easy push. I was more interested in the range.

If it looks pretty, you should shove it.
