Playing a short stack at a $150 25K guarantee.

New player comes to table and has reasonable stack of 30-40BBs.

He likes to open limp from middle to late position.

I have a 12-18 BB stack (this happened more than once).

Should my shove range get tighter, since he may be planning to call, or should it get looser, since there is extra money in the pot.

Obviously my FE is dependent on whether I am 12BB or 18BB, so let's take the general case of 15BB.

You have two dynamics here that work against each other:

1) A squeeze has a wider range and decent players know that. Your wider range is going to get called by a good player a bit wider. You might shove 15BBs over a limp in the HJ with a hand like A5s and a good player in the SB might call with A9o or 66 when they normally wouldn't.

2) There's more dead money in the pot so a wider squeeze is more profitable. There's like 33% more dead money in the pot with a limper in play.

In these spots, I prefer to slightly widen my shoving range in LP only. I don't widen it in EP or MP. I also try to avoid widening it with middle SCs because I've seen too many limpers call 12-15BB shoves with 66-99 and A2s-A5s after limping.

Have we seen some of the hands he's limping with? Has he had any monsters?

In a live 150$, I'd lean towards extending my shoving range slightly or sticking too general snapshove type ranges.

Sorry not sure where to put this question but i think you can answer.

Is snapshove the best way to play or does it just show +ev shoves?

I don't see many pros jamming 21BB UTG or whatever, not saying they never do.

Does snap shove apply better to deeper structures? Some of the correct shoves seem crazy on table where everyone has 10-15BB.

Wider. Most players don’t limp great hands from mp to lp so assume it’s weak. If player has been limping a lot, makes this easier. I would prolly jam a little wider than a standard nash shove range chart due to more dead money in the pot.
