A lot of hands got there like AT/QT/JT/T9. Hands like AQ/AJ will likely check behind because they have showdown value.
The type of hands that missed and would need to bluff to win are minimized because of the T. We are left with QJ and suited connectors like 98s/87s/etc. But the problem is that our 88 blocks a lot of them.
If BTN makes a small bet like 2bb to 4bb I might call (crying) but any normal size river bet is a fold.

Another thing, if the BTN had a ten he can easily check for SDV but he could also merge his range and bet a Ten because BB will think its either a King or a bluff and possibly call. So in turn BTN is getting more value from his hand.
