This question is really about UTG spots at 20BB with suited aces. I know some of it is villain dependent in terms of our stats on the V's but generally speaking with suited A's is it preferable to raise 2BB and potentially fold to jams, better to open Jam, etc ?

For 20BB: Standard min open, calling jam ATs+, calling small 3bet A2s+

Adjusting for tigher opponents, icm etc.

You should be opening A2s+ from almost all positions even if 8 or 9 handed on 15-20bbs. (Unless bubble implication). I would min open these in 6max and follow what oldsilver said.

In 8-9 handed mtts, think you gotta min open these hands (at 20bb And less) such as all suited Aces as they play really well post and block AA. We should have a min open range that isn’t just QQ/KK/AA so shallow also. I hired a coach who I found to be quite knowledgeable- said you should open all suited Ax and it’s a leak if you aren’t / not vpiping enough if you are folding these from ep.

That’s interesting for me to hear cause while I’ll def open A2-A5s w 20bbs from any position, I’ll usually fold A6-A8s from EP, and I’m not always opening low suited aces off a 15bb stack.

Also OP I think it’d be a blunder to open shove low suited aces from EP w 20bbs. That’s way too big of a stack to just jam and pray since if we’re called we’re always ****ed and drawing to 3 outs at best.

Open shoving 20xBB into 5 players would be just awful. You can open shove from like the button. You do not want to be open shoving many hands for 20xBB into 5 players, but if you do they need to be more the middle of your range. Open folding might be OK if you were a short stack with 20xBB and maybe some other situations.

Baseline At 20bb min open A3s+.

Calling small 3bet w/ A9s.

Calling jams/rejamming ATs vs CO/BU.

Calling jams AJs+

I think there's a difference between 15BB and 20BB spots with our suited Ax. I completely agree at 20BB that these are almost always min-raise-ish opens in EP unless there's mitigating factors, but at 15BB I think we can start to mix between shove and min raise with our A2s-A9s type hands, still primarily min raising but occasionally shoving stuff like A5s/A4s. As we move towards later position, we generally want to lean more towards open shoving our suited Ax at 15 BB.

We have some shoves with A8s A9s but A2-A7s and AT+ are still min clicks UTG 6-max - and tbh you can just min-click the lot at 15bb

However these A2-AJs all become shoves below 15bb. I'm looking at a 12bb chart and while some of these are mixed strat in theory, i'm keeping it simple and ripping.

And yep, in CO+ these low suited Ax all become shoves even at 15bb.
