It was the live session, buy-in €50+€10, re-buy on first 3 levels, one add-on before level#4, 50 players, 6th places paid. My total investment €160.

we are on level#7 with 32 players left. I just spent the whole 20 minutes level receiving one junk hand after another and folding pre.
The new level just started and as the result I have an akward 24BB stack.
The table looks like this:

MP - large stack, ~40BB, mid-aged Turkish guy, plays quite reasonably.
LJ - short stacked< 20BB. personal traits are not relevant.
HJ - me, 24BB
CO - large stack 60BB, 50-ish mid east maniac. Likes to push with all kind of junk.
BTN - short stacked < 20BB. 20-ish spanish guy, plays very accurate game.
SB - chip leader, gigantic stack > 100BB; 20-ish super-white, seems like USA guy, won multiple all-ins.
BB - short stacked guy ~20BB; mid-aged, white guy; he only shoved several times without anyone calling.

Blinds 200/400, antes 50

MP opens 1100(2.75BB)

I look at AhJs. It's a good hand, finally! I am not going to fold it.
But also, I really don't want to 3-bet because there are a couple short stacks ahead and I am not sure if I want to call if they push.
Also, if the maniac or the chip leader call 3-bet and so does the original raises I end-up committed in multiway pot. I would like to avoid that.
So I just flat and everyone else folds.

Flop (~8BB) 8h8d6h

MP bets 3.5BB.

So I had overcards + nuts bdfd. I don't think that I can fold now so I call with an idea to fold on the turn if the hand does not improve or just fully commit to the pot if hit any of 6 outs.

Turn(15BB) Jc

V checks

My stack is now ~18BB. And I am certain that I don't fold my 2 pairs top kicker.

So, should I check-back and call any bet OTR?
V's play indicates that he probably has flush draw or 99, TT because he would probably bet OTT with overpair like QQ+..should I really allow free card for him? Or is it better to lead OTT?

I'm probably going to bet smallish like 6 bb's. There are some cards that hit the river that put us in an awkward spot. So I'd like to get our SPR somewhere where I'm willing to stack off on the river. Also, might give us a chance to check back some rivers that improve V, obviously probably checking back K,Q, and heart river cards here. Otherwise, we jam bricks and given V pot odds we can get value from a decent amount of holdings.

The problem I have with checking back turn is that:
1. We don't deny equity from Kx/Qx that we probably get no value from on the river if they don't hit
2. We fail to charge flush and straight draws
3. We don't put any pressure on worse Jacks and allow V a relatively cheap showdown

Yeah, points 2 and 3 popped into my head on this hand..I really, really didn't want to check...but instead of betting small I just shoved..and of course he had JJ.

There is a substantial amount of chips in the pot on the turn so winning it right now is not a bad result. If we give him a free card and a K, Q or a heart lands we may loose the pot or our whole stack. I would just jam the turn. We get paid by worse jacks, maybe even TT and 99s. And we price overcards and draws out and thereby ensuring the pot for us.

Cooler we were probs going to gii anyway. Unfortunately that's one of very few combos V is going to play this way that beats us. He's either extremely confident that he doesn't need to deny equity and trying to force a mistake or most likely he's got some SDV and trying to get to showdown

I've got one more suggesion - all-in pre(24bb, AJo, HJ, single raise behind)
what everyone thinks about that?

All in Pre is marginal, if you had 20bb it's fine. As played, you should 100% bet the turn, he has weak J's in his range with 4 to a flush hands, along with broadways which you beat. I would just shove to reduce variance, with your stack depth you just have to go with the top pair, you can be called with a lot worse and draws.

Too deep for the shove. If it was a tourney I felt I was at a disadvantage in maybe but in a live 55 I think we should refrain from getting our stack in in such a marginal spot

AJ is a decent hand but can be tricky to play with a short stack, it’s mainly meant to shove and call short stack shoves, and any play with it should be saved for when you’re deeper. All in all with the way the hand played out it’s quite an unlucky cooler and almost anybody who hit the J on the turn would most likely go broke if you were beat already. Sick he had JJ that’s an ugly cooler and an absolute dream card for pppoment lol, how do people get so lucky.

Thanks everyone for sending responses to this thread. I am confident now that the way I played this hand was not bad at all!
