Do you play it? I find it very restrictive because by the second level you are already less than 100bb. Or do you play it with starting stacks of 300bb? I find making more questionable plays mostly because I feel the need to double up very fast and I don’t enjoy it. But I also think it’s good practice for the better tournaments. How do you guys approach these tournaments if you do play then?

Depends on both the structure and the buy-in. There are lots of $60 dailies in LV where you can lose the equivalent of the BI in one hand of 1-2 NL (or WIN the $60 in one hand).

Generally not a good source of income but can be a nice several hour distraction.

It will get short and mechanical quickly, like any turbo. Try to stay around average stack with minimum risk, then find the (usually obvious) spots to gii in later stages as 66%+fav. Post-flop decisions are rare, so know your charts for opening, shoving, 3b/gii, 3b/fold etc. Bubble can be very profitable against tourists.

Thanks. So that’s my other question, is it worth as a practice for longer tournaments ? I just don’t know if it’s worth the investment if the variance is so high and if I can’t play much poker post flop.

Sure. One way to achieve this is to grind live low stakes cash for deep stack experience with many decisions over multiple streets, then play the live turbos for short/medium stack experience.

Also remember that even if you're deep stacked in an mtt, many decisions will be in hands against short stacks. A robust short/medium game is far more essential than deep stack wizardry in mtts. Only exception is a main event that runs deep over multiple days.

To me, there is a right and wrong way to play, so I don't make things to happen. I get the right hands when I get them and then I move up or out. I added single table tournaments after these turbos, as it is mandatory to be street wiser late in MTTs, as the GTO guy always loses to those guys. Will do a couple hundred more 1-on-1s also at some point.
