Same tourney, another preflop spot

UTG - 17/23 - Solid stats on OPR
BTN - 10/14 - Losing player on OPR - He blinded down to 5bb and shoved with 78suited and tripled up 6 hands before this one. 3 hands later he 3xd from first position with JJ and got it in vs KK and doubled again...

Thought it was very close between flat and 3 bet preflop but decided to see a flop in position. Any advice appreciated..

I generally always bet A high flops if checked to in position with JJ/QQ/KK just because you get into so many bad spots on later streets if you check back.

Betting the flop defines your opponents range very clearly for later streets if they call (people very rarely float OOP on A high flops) and the majority of the time they will check the turn which gives you a chance to take a free card and evaluate any subsequent river bet.

$11c.
Was moved to table 2 hands ago.

OR is 17/14 in 100 hands. Opens 12% utg. Reg I guess (reviewing my runs)
Bunch of ..... behind him.
SB has ok stats but calling getting zillion-1, so no worries I guess.

Briefly I see math would say hands which have 30% vs 99/AQ are +ev [massively] assuming he opens 12% and don`t fold 99/AQ with his stack.
But what`s your in-game feeling - how wide do we shove?

disagree, way too tight, 22+, all suited broadways, ATo, KQo, A8s. Your range would be good if we had any indication that villain is solid tag, that's probably not the case. I'm sure he's opening either too much or not calling enough.

think this deserves its own thread, jamming flop is simple and not a well thought out option imo. yes we gii with ok equity vs sb always but never with gr8 equity. I think we can call and fold if mp gets it in or something cuz we're obv not good vs him at least and if we're not good vs him than we are drawing dead vs sb raising range (or vice versa).

I probably just call as well given that we have position on SB.
MSMTT quick checkup thread Quote
08-07-2013 , 04:01 AM
I think position on the SB is less important when we consider his stack. He has 18 BB's to start the hand, it'd be harder if we were deeper but as the effective stacks are 25bb's not so much.

So don't fold and it doesn't matter

Hot $44.

Open-shover is a random clown who was absolytely randomly opening random suited rubbish e.t.c.
Guess he shoves 65% at least.

3b-shover is Mr.Mori. He`s aware about clown, so I guess it can loosen his range a bit but still he`s playing solid mostly.

Hotter $22.
2ft. Im above average - one of CLs I guess.

Villian is small-stakes reg with somewhat ok results.
22/17 in 40 hands.

Game was really tight, all shortstacks were on payjump ladder, folding 5bb otb e.t.c.... prev. hand was folded to me in BB.

I thought I`d prefer blockers in such game and folded 77.
What my range should be here?
Should we consider ICM and nittiness of the table as our edge [which should make our range tighter here]?

Seems really std vs active regs, but villain is tight supernova.
9/9 in 160 hands.

Idk how tight he can be from HJ with 10bb.
I assigned him 18.5% 44+,A5s+,K9s+,QTs+,J9s+,T9s,A8o+,KJo+,QJo
and with players behind shove is -0.3bb.

What range do you assign him, what do you shove?

Think 77 is the top of my folding range in your first hand if the table is really tight and you can get away with an infinite amount of steals instead of flipping for the CL.

In the second hand I'd include 22/33, all suited aces and KTo in his shoving range, so I'm guessing it'll be a ~BE reshove.

Has just moved to the table couple hands ago, so no actual reads how he plays, but he has already re-shoved over open twice. BB plays 33/22/8,6 (180 hands) and does not like to fold. I am playing 17/14 (40% steal from bu), but obv sb doesn't know that. Anyone like shove better than r/c in this spot.
