Notes on the tournament: The Norwegian Poker Online Championship, that usually goes down in Dublin, was this time played at Ipoker. We`re at day 2, starting with a field of 1355 and top 339 gets paid. 550 human souls left.

Blinds 2000 - 4000 (200 ante I believe)

Villian opens UTG to 8000 and has like 600K in his stack
Hero calls 78 in SB and has like 260k in his stack
Big Blind calls. and has like 200k in his stack

Flop: JJ2 Pot: 25K ish

I check, BB check, Villian (UTG) bets 12k, I call, BB folds

Turn: K Pot: 50K ish
I check , Villian bets 22k , I check-raise to 66k , Villian calls

River: 10 Pot: 182K ish
I ...

1) Do I believably represent a jack here?
2) When he calls the turn, should I go into check - call on the river when I hit my flush? Should I check-fold? Or is betting fine?
3) Any other thought welcome...

25% of field paid? Seriously?

Folding pre, guess calling at some freq not horrible depending on BB

Flop ok, you can’t rep 2x or JJ+
Turn, ok now you c/r into a K and J heavy V range, which is good if V has no Kx but sheesh...
River, lucky you. If you do anything other than jam I’d be surprised

This is day 2, so of 2600 ish entrants (Day 1A, 1B was re-entry the next day if busto), so out of those entrants top 339 got paid.

Onto the hand: Do you think that UTG has a lot of Jacks in his range? Should I shove a jack on the river when the flush arrives?

Am absolutely open to the fact that I misplayed the hand.

If I am going to c/r I would do it on the flop. Getting hands like AK/AQ to fold would be good.

Because the turn is a K I wouldn't c/r. I think Villain is less likely to have a J than Hero. But AJ or KJs/QJs aren't out of the question.

The river can't be better for you so you can't c/f. Villain's call on the turn would be far worse if it wasn't a K. But aside from AK/AA/KQs we could be behind though I think TT would be a longshot. If you are concerned that Villain could have a nut flush or KQ then betting half pot would probably only get called (because villain would have to worry that Hero has JT/KJ). And if you bet half pot and villain shoves in theory you could fold because no way Villain is shoving a hand worse than a flush (FTR I don't play online so ranges could be different than live and also in real life I never fold here so I would shove river mostly but I don't really think we will be called by worse except maybe by AJ. Check/calling the river is also an option because it will look like we are scared of the river. But really Villain is never floating so I doubt they will bluff. Jx would check back a lot. Boats or big flushes won't so its better if we bet).

edit: If you have a J then there are a lot fewer combos of AJ/KJs/QJs/JTs that Villain can have. Also Villain will be folding some AJ/QJs/JTs UTG (at least they would live).

Well, I elected to bet 50k into a pot of 180k on the river.

Villian pushes All-in, leaving me with 110k behind.

Now what?
