I'm playing in a $300+30 mixed tournament later this week -- no-limit hold 'em and PLO, alternating every 8 hands.

I play plenty of hold 'em tournaments, but have never played a live PLO event. What advice can the collective offer for someone who is not experienced playing the PLO hands? I'm thinking I should be pretty tight and not open pots without premium cards, especially out of position, which seems pretty standard. What other tips can you give me?

Since you lack experience:
Steer away from small-mid pair hands
Two pairs is not the nuts
Try to only draw to the nuts

Nut draws, low pairs TT and below suck, don't have to full pot always, no one bluffs at this level, 3b's are majority AAxx, no one folds pre, don't try and bluff pre/flop/turn, don't bluff river either but it's only spot to consider.

So, hands like A88J with the possibility of flopping a set and also the possibility of a nut flush is worth playing, but with Q instead of Ace (so not a nut flush draw) with just the middle pair, set mining is not worth it and just fold to a pre-flop raise, right?
