Villain is decent player but it looks likes he shoves pretty light.(Shoved 35+BBs from the sb w QJ).Should we push here or fold and wait for a better spot?

I fold here. Even if he's shoving relatively light like any pair, any Ace, any broadway and some higher Kx we are racing here. I prefer to preserve my FE.

I agree, it's a fold for me. Don't underestimate the value of being the shover rather than the caller in short stack situations. (Plus I always lose these even when he shows up with QJ!)

I would also fold. You just paid the blinds so you have an orbit to find a better spot.

For me, AJ+, 99+ is a snap call. AT,A9,88,77 I have to give it some thought and it will depend on the exact nature of the reads and table dynamics - usually leaning towards a call with AT and 88. Less than that and I think I want to preserve my folding equity and look to be pushing wide any time it folds to me.

and how can someone on a poker forum who hasnt been at the table ever distinguish this? You toy around with pokerstove to see what types of ranges your hand is good against and then you try to figure out based on recent play what range the villain has, and then you either call or fold.

against good people who have a wide enough shoving range in this spot, it's a shove. against the average 11$ player, it's quite a clear fold.

It depends on how many bbs the BB had as well. If 35 BB is effective then it's not only light, it's a mistake.
