How often are you short stack in later stages How often are you short stack in later stages

Hi,

I find myself more often than not to be short stack at mid levels and I was wondering if that is the case for you?

I cash out about 40% of the time and it is mostly because of my short stack strategy which is basically all in or fold at later stages.

Any info and tips would be great

All the time. I don't gamble it up early.

I hope to get hot. If I don't, I will gamble with the short stack later. I don't really like to ever get below 8 big blinds. I open my game up with 8-12 big blinds and ship a lot.

I was down 1.6bb just before the bubble recently and ended up finishing third. I’ve seen hello_totti down to 1bb in a high roller when just in the money and end up winning. I would rather go below 8bb than get it in with air.

My 8 bb strategy is as follows:

From any position, if I am first to enter the pot, I ship it with any ace, any pair, any two cards that equal 19 or better.

If I am in Cutoff or button and no one has entered the pot, I pretend to look and just ship it in.

If anyone entered the pot, even with a call, I stick to my tournament standards, which include folding offsuit Q-J and K-J.

If you get too far below 8 bb's you lose all fold equity.
